Thoughts on the Dead Head

Here is the newest addition to our home decor.
I must admit this is not my idea of decorating, but my Hubby got a 10 point this year and guess where he hung it.

Right in the living room.  I suggested the basement but that didn’t go over well.

Funny thing is I found the deer standing on our property while I was outside and had time to come in, get my husband and show him where the deer was so he could shoot it.

The story is now told, that I located the deer and brought him to my Hubby.

What is everyone’s thoughts on the dead head?

  2. I know exactly how you feel….i’ve not been able to get the deer, turkey and bobcats a room of their own and this year we’ve added to the collection….I just go with it and like you have a rustic look in our home so it works. Maybe you should tell him it doesn’t look complete without a few more up there so you have to wait till he gets a good collection before you prominatly display them in the living room…that might just give you a few years 🙂

  3. The deer head…oh my…I think I much prefer to see them alive and in their natural setting. However, that being said, I do love your home!
And on your WIWW..I have the same tan jacket. And I just got my summer clothes out, and remembered my sleeveless top with the satin bow like the one you have that is thrifted. I love it, and wear mine with a cardi too. Dump truck shopping???? You are a mystery woman!!

  4. I don’t care for the things myself. But I grew up in Newfoundland where there are moose heads on the walls and stuffed bobcats or linx on the TV stand. And I do have Malcom, the bobble-headed moose on the dash of my car. So, I know full well that a girl’s gotta make concessions for the man she loves.

PS – Does he know yet that you’ll hang garland and tinsel from it come Xmas??

  5. Aww…It really is a beautiful deer- no one in my family hunts, but I know so many people who do.

    Your home is beautiful.

  6. It’s not so bad, it actually fits the style of your home. Just think at Christmas, you hang stuff from his antlers. 🙂 My hunny is a hunter too, I am sure if he shot one like this he would definately want to show it off!

You have one….we have 4 in our living room. I hunt as well as my husband. It’s our lifestyle. I think it looks good.

  8. I like it in your rustic home…. and it shows love and respect for your husband to have it there. I have a HUGE picture of hunting dogs in my kitchen because my husband loves it. But I did make him bring his stuffed fish to work

  9. Hmmm… well we don’t have a dead head, we have a fish!
Honey couldn’t part with him the last time I painted… so I put a frame around him and he went from being Billy Bass to Art.

    I like Art.

I think it works since your home is rustic! I am acually going to receive a set of antlers from my husbands brother in law and I am ready to create a hunting lodge type room in my home, so I think it looks pretty good! LOVE EVERYTHING you’ve done! Blessings in the new year!
