I finally had a chance to take down all the Christmas decorations.  I have been waiting for someone to haul the gigantic, heavy ladder up from the basement for me.  My son decided to drag it up tonight.
I am so ready for it all to be packed away.  I normally do it all Christmas day but had to wait for help this year.
I talked my son into climbing to the top for those last few ornament that were out of my reach.
Even the dog decided to dive into the tissue paper and hide her toy.
I’m so glad to have everything packed away and our house back to normal.

It’s fun and exciting when they go up, and work when they come down. I didn’t do a lot of decorating this year, I’m sure next year will be different. I am spending my days off packing for the move to my daughters, it will be moving day before I know it. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Love the dog pic! I packed away all the Christmas decor on Wednesday and then put up snowy winter items on the mantel and dining table. That way we were totally naked around here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ LOL Hope you have a FABULOUS New Year my friend.

Awwww, so sad! We get to enjoy Christmas decorations 1 month out of the year, and everyone is always so anxious to get back to “normal”! UGH! (I definitely could never take them down Christmas day, I think I would break down and cry~lol) I keep mine up until the 1st weekend in Jan. and even then, I am doing it reluctantly. I think the dark winter nights just scream for lights, so I love to leave them up to look at them as long as possible. Even after I take down the Christmas decorations, winter ones go up with blue and clear lights and snowflakes. Isn’t it funny how people are so different!?

I must just move slower than everyone else or maybe I had way too much Christmas decor, but it seems to be taking forever to get it all packed away. In my own defense, there have been lots of interruptions — eye appts. with my hubby, long phone conversations with out-of-state friends, assistance needed by The Man to help with his crown molding project…..lol! I have to drag in the tall ladder for all the things above the kitchen cabinets. Could I borrow you son? Heehee! It should get finished today after we have a class at the Apple Store. I’m just not very patient about getting it all out of the house & put away. I am thinking, during this process, about how I will re-dress our home now that it’s looking so bare. Such dilemmas we face, right?
    Happy New Year, sweet friend!

    It’s a good feeling, isn’t it Dawn?
I love the decorating, but am just as glad to be rid of it.
That tree was a lot taller than I had thought.
OMG, do you burn it now?
And your doggie looks so adorable amidst the mess of tissue paper! Did you see the talking dog video that has gone balistic? You dog looks a bit like the one on the video. It’s really cute.
I’m so glad I got to know you this year and love visiting with you.

I’ve taken all mine down. And the boxes are on the back porch until I figure out where else to store them.

Boy that tree was huge! I agree that taking everything down is almost more satisfying than putting it up. The past few years it has been such a relief! Hope you have a great weekend. Happy New Year!

That is one huge tree. You really get the scale of it with the ladder standing there!!! Wow!!!
It does feel so good to get the house UNdecorated, and clean!!

We have our big family party on Christmas Eve. My mom & aunt are both widows, so they sleep over Christmas Eve, so they are here in the morning. Christmas day everyone stays in their pj’s, plays the new games / electronics they received and eat all the left overs from the day before. This year my hubby made a big pan of blueberry french toast for breakfast. We will be taking our tree down tomorrow. Hate to see it go.
