Building a Office Desk on a Budget

I had outgrown my standard 4ft. office desk and was in need of something much larger.
So off to the lumber yard I went and picked up 4 boards 10ft. long.  I wasn’t looking for anything special just more space.
First a base frame was built.

And then all the top boards were attached.
Here is a bottom view
 and a top view.
I was looking for a quick easy finish and this is an all in one Stain and Poly.  That sounds good to me!!  I brushed on 2 coats and let it dry.
I used IKEA legs that I had on hand.
The whole project was under $30. Works for me!!

I love how this desk turned out. I’ve got the itch to redesign my craft/computer room and this may be a good option for me, but on a much smaller scale for my room. I pinned this idea for later.

This is awesome…and a great size. I would love to have one (or two) of those in my sewing room. Not sure who would make it though. :o) Have a really good week!

My kingdom for a desk this big, I can just imagine the projects you’ll master with this great space Dawn.

Very good deal indeed. A great desk surface. I also read backwards in your posts and saw your cement counter tops. Wow. They are terrific and the work you did save thousands. Very impressive.

I would love to have a desk that size!
and it doesn’t look hard to put together either.
Thanks for the idea-now if I can get my hubby on board!

    love this idea…and cheap:)
I too…need lots of space when I’m working
I would love to do something similar when we
“ever” get to finishing the downstairs!

The size and color are wonderful! Do you have a dedicated space for your office?

Love this and love the size! This would be perfect in my “eventually it will be done” office/craft/mom room, but I think we would have to build it right in the room otherwise we would never be able to get it up the stairs and around the corner into the room it needs to go into!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! 🙂 Love the way your table turned out, Dawn–that stain is a gorgeous color!

I love it the color of that stain! Just 2 coats?–that stuff was good! I like how it looks like it is aged with the dark spots in the wood.

    Thanks for sharing!
