I have tried every laundry detergent on the market over the years and nothing works better than home made.
I normally coupon and get all my detergent for free or close to free, but when I really need the tuff stains to come out I grab my home made detergent.
My teenage son works in a body shop and I think they sweep the floors at the end of the day and roll him in the grease and grime. That boy sure isn’t afraid to get dirty. Even the expensive brand names never come close to getting everything out of his clothing.
But this does every time.
What you will need is:
1C Washing Soda
1 Bar Fels-Naptha Soap
And a hand grater or your food processor to grate the Fels-Naptha.
1. Grate the soap (I cut the soap into smaller pieces before running it through my food processor.)
2. Add the washing soda, borax, and stir.
3. Place into a storage container and use 1tsp to 1T per load depending on how soiled the clothing. You can also add essential oil if you like a certain scent.
I have a front loader and use 1T per load, I always have a full load.
Cost per load is around 5 cents.
