Front Porch Swing at a Log Home

Our temperatures have finally dropped enough that in the evening you can sit outside and enjoy a slight breeze.

I think this has been the hottest Summer on record, and we have been cooped up in the air all season.

The porch swing is finally in use.

The swing is old and came from Walmart many years ago.

I have recovered it several times and last season made the ruffled drop cloth skirt to add to the bottom.

The pillow slipcovers I found at a garage sale and fell in love with all the vintage fabrics that made up the many quilt squares.

The table is also very old, I founds it at an auction over 15 years ago.  I like that it folds up and becomes flat making it easy to store and move.

The ticking quilt was found on the clearance rack at Target two years ago.

The large wooden platter was a thrifted score and all that silver was purchased at a garage sale last year.  Many of the pieces were produced in the 1800’s.

The table linen is vintage that’s been handed down in my family.

The two stools with the numbers on them are cheap Ikea stools that I made little slip covers for.

I forgot to mention my favorite feature of the swing is the back folds down and the swing makes into a bed.

Is the weather cooling off in your neck of the woods yet?  I sure hope you are able to enjoy some time outside swinging…

  2. Dawn. that is so pretty. I wish I had a porch to hang a swing on. We are getting hotter this week after being mostly cloudy and cooler the last couple of weeks.

  3. Sooooo lovely Dawn, you have such a knack with putting it all together. We’re still very warm here, hoping it cools off soon. We don’t have air conditioning, I love to have the windows open and let the breeze blow through but it’s been way too hot. Great photos.

  4. What a beautiful porch and swing! Love the pillow slipcovers and all the details of the various textiles. All of it is just dreamy! We had one day of below 90 temps this week, but it’s going right back up there tomorrow. Sigh. Summer is my favorite season and I don’t feel like I’ve been able to enjoy it much this year.

  5. I adore bed swings! I have pics of several cut out for inspiration. I love everything about your porch. Such great finds!!!

  6. Dawn this is just breathing, your fabrics and hard scape items are pure summer country. There isn’t a element in this porch post that I’m not in love with, it truly makes me feel like I’m sitting on the porch with you. Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. Would like to be “just ah swingn'” in the cool breeze,it’s hotter than rooster spur pepper here too.

  8. Stopping by from Dedicated House! I love your front porch swing vignette. Like you I am a linen girl, just something about it make me feel all fuzzy inside. You’s are quite beautiful and love how you make linens with numbers for the ikea stolls, really cute. I never knew a porch swing could go flat and make a bed, that could cause a problem for me, since I might not be able to leave. Very country pretty! My fingers and toes are crossed youโ€™ll share your creative inspiration with Sundayโ€™s Best โ€“ sharing is a good thing!

  9. Love it!! Oh for nice evenings again. We had a couple, but that was several days ago. Today it is well over 100 (I don’t know exactly b/c my indoor/outdoor thermometer died yesterday). Today the AC died, and we have a new one trying to catch up now. Wow… when does Fall arrive? ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks, Dawn, as always for providing much inspiration and virtual relaxation! -Tammy
