Peach Crisp Recipe

Apple Crisp Recipe

Here in Michigan the trees a full with ripe, juicy Peaches and just my luck I have a friend with a Peach tree in her back yard. She normally calls me when they’re ripe for the picking but this year she did the picking herself and delivered me a box of fresh peaches. We ate them fresh everyday  and with the last few that were left I decided to make this easy Peach Crisp Recipe. I like those recipes that take all of 5 minutes to throw together, and this one fits right into that category. I mixed it up and put it in the oven just before lunch yesterday and couldn’t resist trying as soon as the timer went off, it was all bubbly, gooey, and warm. I  dished myself up a helping with a little vanilla ice cream on the side, you have to have ice cream with Peach Crisp right? What a wonderful, tasty, lunch it turned out to be, I enjoyed every bite of it.

Peaches

The old peach tree that these peaches came from has an amazing story…. Years ago a family would eat store bought peaches out side on their deck, and for every peach they ate there was a pit, and the pit got thrown out into the yard. Well one spring day a small tree was spotted growing in the yard. The family carefully mowed around it every summer and after years of doing this they were rewarded with delicious peaches.  Now experts say that it isn’t possible to grow a tree from a store bought peach’s pit, but apparently that’s not true. The tree is now very old and has lost many branches in storms, and that family still sits on the porch and throws their peach pits into the yard, but another tree has never grown. This is a true story and the friend that brings me the peaches was that little girl who lived in that house with her 3 brother, her mom and dad eating peaches on the back deck. She is now grown and has kids of her own but her Dad still has the house and the very old peach tree. It’s a miracle Peach Tree, that’s for sure, and it has the best peaches you have ever tasted. Every year we think it will be it’s last for producing, but somehow it survives and surprises us yet another year.
