“Empty Nester Turns College Girl” Part 2

It looks like I will need to take a full load of college classes to get some financial help, which is fine with me since I enjoy learning and will soon be able to move forward in my new teaching career path and have an income.    I was an A student in high school and college my first go around so I am looking forward to the challenge of what college has to offer this late in life. I am thankful to have a hubby that supports my decision and two teenage boys that think Iโ€™m a great fit for high school level teaching.   School1

I have spent a big portion of my life raising, homeschooling, and caring for my kids, so transitioning into something new will be scary yet exhilarating. I was lucky to have most of my classes and background in place, so making the adjustment into a new field should go quite smoothly. Iโ€™m sure that college will be a big help in this area and I wonโ€™t be the timid school girl I was in my younger days. I will dive right in with enthusiasm and not be afraid to ask questions. I am expecting a big change in how classes and college in general flow now, but I feel I have the drive to succeed. I am also fortunate enough to be able to move right into a new job, our local school has already said they will use me as a sub as often as I would like to work. That makes it all seem doable, and gives me reason to push on with the classes. I do wonder what online classes will be like, since I have only ever been in classrooms for school. These are all things that will be new to me, and I may even find that I like them better.   I will never loose my love of blogging but itโ€™s now time to spread my wings and help with the family income. I would have never thought this was something I would pursue in my late 40โ€™s but I feel I have so much to offer, and I look forward to a new career.

    1. Kris Im not sure if I have much wisdom, but I do have a desire to see each one of them succeed and not slip through the cracks, and that seems to be a problem in our local school system.

      1. Well a long time ago, before kids, after I got my first degree, I decided to take classes in Office Systems. I was tired of cranky receptionists. If I could give smiles and be kind, maybe that would make a difference in someone’s day. I took a handful of credits about 12 years ago, then I had my children. They are all in school now so it is time to get back at it.

        1. AJ, I know how you feel, it is so hard to get back at the classes but I think it will be rewarding in the end.
