Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe/HostessGift/& Printable

Cup of Hot Chocolate

Have you been invited to a last minute Christmas party and haven’t had time to plan for a hostess gift? Well look no further, you can whip this up in a matter of minutes and be on your way to the party.  In our home we make a big batch of this Hot Chocolate Mix every winter and drink it all season long.

Hot Chocolate Ingredients

This is certainly not a mix if you are looking for a skinny recipe. My philosophy is hot cocoa is meant to be rich, creamy and loaded with calories. If you’re looking for a lite version just use hot water instead of hot milk.

  12. This sounds so good! How much liquid do you stir in per serving? I’m making as gifts and need to include instructions to make. Thanks so much for the recipe!

    1. Kirsten, it depends on how big the mug is, but a normal coffee cup would need about 8-10 oz.

  13. So I made this to give away as gifts this year and boy is it good! I tried a different recipe first and it just wasn’t creamy enough. The powdered creamer and pudding mixes really push this over the top. The only suggestions that I have is I would really recommend using some salt and much more sugar.
    * I used 1 1/2 tsp of regular table salt, but I think you could even use a bit more, fine grain salt would be best.
    * I also thought that it wasn’t near sweet enough and ended up using 6 cups of powdered sugar.

Next batch I’m going to try using some flavored creamer, perhaps hazelnut. Another thought is to use 1/4 c of instant espresso powder for a mocha flavor.

Thanks for the great recipe though…It is a keeper.
With the 6 cups of sugar I ended up filling about five-and-a-half 1 quart mason jars

    1. Kathy, your tweaks sound so yummy I will give them a try. Thanks for the update ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. I would like to make this to put in jars for holiday gifts. It sounds delicious!
