Let Freedom Ring | Patriotic Porch | Red, White, & Blue | Old Glory | Freedom | July 4th | Creative Cain CabinThe Cabin in ready for a little 4th of July celebrating! In our village, population 1,000, our local Doctor pays for the firework show that happens on the schools baseball diamonds every year. He is in his late 80’s now and has graciously supported many event in our community.

Patriotic Porch | Red, White, & Blue | Old Glory | Freedom | July 4th | Creative Cain CabinBefore he retired he built our high school a new football stadium with all the bells and whistles. As I sit in the stands watching my son play football I hear the opposing teams parents comment on what a wonderful facility we have, the best around they all say. Getting back to the 4th….our community couldn’t function without the good doctor, not only his medical advice, but his willingness to do so many wonderful things for the town he loves.

Patriotic Porch | Red, White, & Blue | Old Glory | Freedom | July 4th | Creative Cain CabinIt makes me proud to live in this country where good people still shine through. So this year on Independence Day, I would like to thank Doc Frankenstein for all he does to give our village a wonderful display of fireworks. Fireworks that always end with the Flag flying high.

Patriotic Porch | Red, White, & Blue | Old Glory | Freedom | July 4th | Creative Cain CabinI love small town living, especially on the 4th of July. The whole town shows up and it’s a great time to catch up with everyone you know. How will you be spending your holiday?

Your porch is bursting with patriotic delight. There is nothing like small town goodness. It still exists here too. xo, Olive

Thank you for Pinning Olive. I just love small town living ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Jen Y says

I love your pretty summer porch.

We always go see our local fireworks as well. we have one of the best fireworks shows in our area for such a small town & it’s all donated by my husband’s employer. This year, we’re excited to get to watch them from our son & daughter-in-law’s new back yard. They’re buying their 1st house & hope to be in to barbecue on the 4th & not fight all the out of town traffic that comes in to see our little show.

    • says

Jen, What a fun day you will have. We are luck the traffic is almost nothing our population is so small. We watch the fireworks and can get out and drive home in less than 10 minutes. LOL

  3. says

Dawn, your small town and caring doctor sound wondeful. I love what you have done with your porch, my friend. xo Laura

  4. says

love your porch & love the story of your wonderful doctor . . . I don’t live in a small town, but I live on a lane with a family feel to it. Simple people like your doctor are probably more common than we know, they just never tout themselves and make the news.

    • says

Carol, I hope you’re right. I love simple people that care about their community and do all they can to help out.

    • says

Jennifer, thank you for taking a look and have a lovely Sunday!

  5. says

I want to do this to my front porch…I’m already thinking about it. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • says

Ann, it was easy for me since those colors are already in my decor. All I had to do was search my stash and pull it all together.

  6. says

How Sweet Dawn. I love love love your porch swing. That is over the top awesome. How fun to live in a small town to celebrate the 4th. Have a great start to the new week.

    • says

Kris, I love everything about small town living except the shopping. You have to plan and travel for miles to purchase anything. Other than that it’s the best place to be.

    • says

Thank you I need to do a quick change for graduation and then back to red, white and blue.

  7. says

Dawn, You have a jubilant and relaxing porch for the 4th. Thanks for sharing the story of your small town..It is bursting with goodness. Reminds me of the small town in Ohio that I lived in as a young girl

    Your porch friend,

Mary, thank you for stopping by . Nothing better than small town life.

  8. says

Hi Dawndie! Oh, your porch looks amazing! You have such a flair! What a nice man the doctor must be and so generous to your community. Is his name really “Frankenstein”? ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ๐Ÿ™‚

    • says

Shelia, yes that is his real name. Kinda scary right? It’s surprising he ever had a patient. LOL

  9. says

We live in a small suburb, but not as small as yours, and go to the local fireworks. It is heartening to read about and know about the doctor and all he has done. Plus, I adore the large red buffalo check!!

    • says

Sue thank you for dropping in. I’m not sure how our town will ever function once the doc is gone. We all love him and use him as our doc.

    • says

Linda this is the first year I decorated our porch for the 4th and I am loving it. I will have to make it a tradition.

  10. says

Dawn, your village sounds idyllic! Our little town (3 miles away) has about the same population, but we don’t have any sort of July 4th celebration like yours! We may have to change that! I’m in love with your swing!

    • says

Jane maybe you could be in charge of getting the fireworks in place in the future. I know it is very expensive and we are grateful for all the doc does.

  11. says

I love what you’ve done with your porch, Dawn.
The celebrations sound like a lot of fun,
I agree there is nothing like small town living and people!

    • says

Kimberly thanks for dropping in. I know I could never live in a big city or a small one either. I just love the country and wouldn’t live any other place.

  12. Bev says

Love, love, love it!! You did a great job. Would love to sit on that porch to watch a July 4th parade go bye ๐Ÿ™‚ -Bev

    • says

Bev, I spend as much time on my porch as I can. I could swing and read a book all day.

  13. Nancy Blue Moon says

Your swing looks so comfy..very pretty Dawn!

    • says

Thank you Nancy, it’s the perfect spot for a nap.

  14. Denise Z says

Summertime always makes me miss summers at my grandma’s in a small town in Michigan. Well, not the bugs and the humidity, but all the rest! Your porch reminds me SO much of our screened porch at her cottage–she had a glider that folded out into a bed, and we’d “fight” over who’d get to sleep out there on summer nights. I miss fireflies, parades, and days at the lake and the whole small town feel. Thanks for sharing!

    • says

Denise our swing makes into a full size bed and you can lock it so it’s stationary or it swings. It is heavenly sleeping out there”)

  15. Denise Z says

P.S. I LOVE that you hung the bunting from the top of the swing! Never would have thought to put it there, but it’s the perfect spot!

    • says

Shannon, we quit hosting also 2 years ago. It is a lot of work, we now just do our local fireworks.
