Turquoise, Rust, and Blush Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree Decorated Using Turquoise, Rust, and Blush Ornaments | CreativeCainCabin.comYesterday was my last day of school for the semester and I’m in need of a Christmas break for sure. I was so busy this year I didn’t have time to change my furnitures slipcovers to my normal Christmas colors, so I chose to decorate the tree to match the slips. Was that a brilliant idea or a lazy idea? I guess it really doesn’t matter, but it did make things much easier on me.

Christmas Tree Decorated Using Turquoise, Rust, and Blush Ornaments | CreativeCainCabin.comIf you remember a few weeks back I brought all my ornaments up from the basement and organized them according to color, well it was a life saver when it came time to decorating the tree this year. All I had to do was grab the totes that matched the decor colors and wallah the tree was color coordinated.

Christmas Tree Decorated Using Turquoise, Rust, and Blush Ornaments | CreativeCainCabin.comI still love the old large retro lights and enjoy using them every year. My kids make fun of me, but oh well I like them. I’m really enjoying the colors on the tree this year and it may be something I try again next year (oh who am I kidding….decorate the tree with the same theme two years in a row….ya, that’s certainly not going to happen, lol) Do you have a new theme for your tree every years, or even change the ornament colors?

Your tree is beautiful. I love the old Christmas lights. I usually only go with red and gold but this year we put up a Grinch tree and I bought the decorations on sale at target and I am really liking the colours. Change can be good !

    1. Cheryl, a Grinch tree is a great idea. I believe all my ornaments are from Target too, I hit the sales for new colors every year.

    1. Thank you Martina, I was happy to at least have time to decorate it .

  3. Looks lovely Dawn. I don’t change the theme on my tree … always special ornament, family photos, and decorations from my childhood and when we were first married. Enjoy your well deserved break from school work.

    1. Linda, maybe I am crazy always changing my tree. I don’t think my mom ever kept any of our childhood ornaments. I will have to ask her.

  4. I love your tree, Dawn. I see it is much smaller this year. That will be much easier to take down, too.

    1. Yes Kim I did away with the 25ft tree, when theres no one to help a 9ft tree is more more manageable for me.

  5. Hi Dawndie! OH, your tree is so pretty! Glad your were able to get a little Christmas time! Now get out there and buy presents.
    Be a sweetie,

    1. Shelia, I do hope to get some shopping done now. Thank you for dropping in and Merry Christmas to you.

Christmas break! Yahoo for you! The tree looks beautiful Dawn. No theme for me, special accumulation of ornaments through the years. From homemade to Hallmark. Please spend some time relaxing, you deserve it. Kathleen in Az

    1. Kathleen I am saying Yahoo too, I need some blog time. LOL I bet a homemade ornament tree is beautiful. Im going to have to inquire where our ornaments went from when I was a kid.

  7. I am loving your colors this year. Melissa over at The Inspired Room is using turquoise/blues, too. Me? I gotta have red. And I usually take photos of my decor each year so I can remember & possibly copy it for a year or two more. Then I tweak, get inspired, make changes. Gosh, enjoy your break from school!!

    1. Barb I have the traditional red and green ornaments but don’t think I have ever used that combination together. Isn’t that funny? Maybe a traditional tree next year. It would go good with my red and white buffalo curtains and white slipcovers. You have me thinking about next year already. LOL

  8. Brilliant or lazy? Well, it certainly works – beautiful?

    Now relax for awhile.

    1. Carol I am trying to relax but it hasn’t happened yet, maybe next week.

  9. Your tree is beautiful. I don’t change my ornaments or ‘theme’ year to year. I have a collection of animal themed ornaments and a general variety of ornaments from my mom, sisters in Christ, daughter and friends. There are so many memories connected with them and the smiles that result as I bring each one out to hang are priceless.

    1. Michele, I bet it is a great time pulling out each ornament and having a memory associated with it. What a wonderful way to spend a day, just decorating and reminiscing.

  10. first of all I love your tree, the colors and the lights for sure !!!!! I have been using the retro look c7 colored lights and tinsel, with old shiny brite ornaments. I always think I will change, but never do.

    1. Linda, if I could find a bunch of shiny brite ornaments I would do my tree that way for sure. They are so pricey to purchase if you can ever even find any.

  11. Everything looks so pretty! I love the old lights too!

    Pam

    1. Pam I am a sucker for the retro lights, they are from my era and that’w what we alway had on the tree when I was a kid. Back then they were glass lights not like the plastic ones now, but I still love the look.

  12. Dawn, I love your tree with the old style big lights! Those are the kind of lights I grew up with. Those and bubble lights. Remember those? I may just have to have a vintage theme next year! The turquoise and other colors go so well in your room, and I know you are so glad to have a break from school. Enjoy yourself!

    1. Jane, I have never seen the bubble lights but my hubby used to have them as a kid. So far I am catching up on blogging with my time off, but it’s good to get ahead.

  13. Your tree looks very nice, Dawn! I do a theme tree each year, rotating over several years: Hallmark lunchboxes, 50 and 60’s with bubble lights and rock n roll, angels, snowman, gingerbread, and nature inspired. This year I did a “Frozen” theme because I had all the silver and blue decos from Y2K and since the small granddaughters are so into Frozen. A lot of storage going on here, but oh so much fun!

    1. Oh I bet the frozen tree is beautiful, it’s the happin’ thing right now. Stores can’t keep anything in stock if it pertains to Frozen. Your Granddaughters must be thrilled.

I love your tree – and your retro lights! ๐Ÿ™‚ Those are on my get-on-after-Christmas-clearance list.

    1. Christi, brilliant time to get the lights when on clearance why spend full price if you don’t have too.

    Beautiful tree Dawn!

    1. Thank you Nancy it is one of my favorite color combinations.
