1 Porch 6 Different Looks

Porch Decor | One Porch Styled 6 Ways | CreativeCainCabin.comAs I look out the window dreaming of spring I’m brought back to reality by the snow drifts piled high. I’m beginning to think Spring will never come to my neck of the woods. Which brings me to what’s been on my mind…..the porch.

Every year I recover the furniture with new fabric giving it a fresh look but I’m not so sure I’m up for it this year. It’s a great money saver, I normally buy the fabric on clearance and can do the whole project for under $10.

Porch Decor | One Porch Styled 6 Ways | CreativeCainCabin.comAs I sit debating on it, I wonder if I want to go to all the hassle of making new again. It’s always disappointing to only get one season out of them. No matter if I use outside fabric or not the sun still fades them horribly.

Porch Decor | One Porch Styled 6 Ways | CreativeCainCabin.comI’ve been browsing online and toying with the idea of just buying new cushions. Granted it’s a big expense but it sounds much easier.

Porch Decor | One Porch Styled 6 Ways | CreativeCainCabin.comWhile I’m trying to make up my mind I thought you might like seeing some of the fabrics used on the porch previously.

Porch Decor | One Porch Styled 6 Ways | CreativeCainCabin.comThe things that never change are the swing and the brown resin furniture. If you have a favorite let me know, it may help in deciding what look I’m going for this year ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. They are all so very beautiful and I do love that porch swing. If I had to pick a fav, I would chose the one with that gorgeous yellow floral quilt…and I heart that cute yellow table!! Have a great weekend Dawn…thanks for the porch inspiration.

    1. Thanks Shirley for popping in. I love the yellow too its so hard to decide.

I feel your pain with all this snow and freezing cold weather….because of the cold I feel like it will never melt the snow!!! I am really starting to feel the winter blues so I planted some tulips….indoors!!! wouldn’t you know ….after only 5 days their little heads are popping up already! As for your covers I really like the pink flowers on the single chair. I too have a swing similar to yours but it’s in the yard…I took some shower curtains but more material style not plastic to cover a few extra pillows for outside – that way it doesn’t matter if it rains on them, it sort of just slides off!! As for the color, well the sun didn’t bleach them yet. The ones I have that came with the swing set have passed 4 summers – they are still nice but the awning that is on the swing is totally bleached out. Just an idea…….stay warm this cold cold weekend.

    1. Wow, I can’t believe it only took 5 days for the tulips to bloom, I bet that warmed your heart. I used shower curtain too one year but they did fade not as bad a material thought. I had forgot I did that. I have 2 sunny yellow ones in my stash I may have to give them a look-see. Thanks for the ideas ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I am a little “Envious” of the yellow table….. Gorgeous!!! and i do love the pic with that quilt with the yellow in it…. in allll it’s glory hanging over the swing!!!

    1. Terri that table was a thrift store buy, the best $5 spent. I use it all over my home.

  4. I clearly see your quandary since all 6 looks are amazing. How anout mix 2 or 3 of them?

    1. Windi, I will give that a try and see if I can come up with anything:) Thanks for the idea!

The red check and yellow floral ones. And I too, love the yellow table. Such a beautiful country porch. Wish I can send some of my sunshine and warmth your way Dawn. Kathleen in Az

    1. Kathleen please send the sunshine and warmth we desperately need it. Still buried in snow and it’s below zero every night.

  6. I love all of your looks! You’re very talented!! I think you could use the Reds and maybe mix in some blues to go along.but the green is beautiful, too. Yeah, I’m no help, I’d be happy to have any of them!

    1. Juli, so far I think red is winning and I still have plenty of that fabric ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I know I am no help whatsoever but I love them all. What a lovely spot to have your morning coffee, or evening glass of wine (or a beer for me, not a wine drinker). I have been thinking about how to set up my back deck for summer. I need a new umbrella for it. I am enjoying a gorgeous day here in sunny Calif. A high of 60 degrees. Don’t hate me. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Pamela, Ugh still freezing here. Looks like more snow on the way. I am so over winter this year, I could cry. I will drink wine and you can have beer while we sit and talk porch decor. LOL

  8. Love the yellow – it just looks so cheerful and sunshiny. But the big red and white check is great too. Decisions, decisions, decisions!

    1. Judy, if the weather ever breaks that’s the first place Im spending some time on is the porch ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I know what you mean about the fabrics fading. Every year I too, cover my cushions on my two patios and every year they fade. Because it’s been just a little bit warmer today, I’ve been thinking “patios/cushions/fabrics”. Something occurred to me: how about oil cloth? I’m not talking about the oil cloth I’m familiar with (in the ’40’s and ’50’s). I’m thinking about the kind I see now in the fabric stores. It’s not so thick, more supple and there seem to be plenty of styles to chose from. Oh well, just a thought…

    1. Kay I love the new oilcloth that’s out. I recovered a patio dining set with it last year and it faded too ๐Ÿ™ I think the only thing I have used that holds up well and doesn’t change is drop cloths. I may just have to do that and use different throw pillows for the color.

If I have to pick a favorite I must go with the red..I just love the big buffalo checks that you decorate with…I would so love to have a big porch like yours Dawn..

    1. Nancy, Im hooked on buffalo checks to. I love them in all sizes. I did find in my stash enough blue and white gingham and green and white gingham to recover with. I guess if I want to do the project at no cost I should use one of those fabrics.

  11. Love the red and white checked one (and the coordinating pillows). Very patriotic…. very summery.

    1. Thank you Carrie, Those buffalo checks are always a favorite of mine and I have plenty of that material on hand.

  12. The very first one is my absolute favorite. …no question! But they are all so lovely. You are so talented. I have no sewing abilities. ..with a talent like yours, please continue creating…and show us when you’re ready!

    1. Vicki, I do know how to sew but it’s not always my favorite thing to do. I like easy projects that’s for sure. Thanks for dropping by the cabin ๐Ÿ™‚
