You Won’t Believe What I Found In My Sons Bedroom

Quad | CreativeCainCabin.comYes you’re seeing things right…..I came home to find my son’s quad parked in his bedroom.  I know you’re thinking was he raised in a barn or what? No he wasn’t but if you have boys you know this seems okay by them, and why wouldn’t you want a quad in your bedroom? I happened to be at the gym working out when this all took place. As you can see by the photo he has his sofa and coffee table  pushed against the wall and it’s sitting in the middle of his living room. My son’s bedroom is huge by the way so a quad fits perfectly through his french doors. Luckily the floors are acid washed concrete so it will be easy to clean up. So I know you’re asking why in the world does he even want it in his room??? Well, he’s leaving on a quad trip and want’s to get it in tip top shape before he leaves. I guess he figures working on it in a heated room in front of the tv sounds like a pretty good idea. At least he was courteous enough to put a drop cloth under it to catch all the snow and mud dripping from it.

Quad | CreativeCainCabin.comAll I can say is “Boys”.  My motto has always been if I don’t see blood or smell smoke, “Go For It”.  I guess this will be moved soon enough and I can restore his room to the way it was.  I got a good laugh if nothing else.

RZR | CreativeCainCabin.comIm not sure why I was surprised, I’ve come home to his RZR parked in his room before too. Boy I wish spring would get here so these things could be worked on outside. LOL

  1. That’s a good, Dawn. Boys just don’t think about things like we do. It was thoughtful of him to put the drop cloth down but I hope it wasn’t one you were planning to use for a project! : )

    1. JoAnne, ain’t that the truth? I have no idea how they think. Now that you mention it I have no idea where the drop cloth came from, lol.

  2. O.M.G. Dawn. You have such patience and understanding that a boy has to do what a boy has to do.

Great story to start my day!

    1. Windi, Yep boys are different. I figure he won’t live at home forever so I just go with it and enjoy!!

  3. Wow!…..you are a good mom!…I remember when my friend’s boys were teenagers…she got so frustrated with their rooms that I told her to leave it be and just close the door…you cannot get frustrated with what you don’t see….I was lucky as my son kept his room pretty neat….but then again, it was not big enough to put his “big toys” in it. Love this post Dawn!!

    1. Shirley, my son’s no neat freak by far, I still clean his bathroom and vacuum his room once a week, but the rest is up to him.

  4. Hilarious! I’m glad neither of my boys had hobbies quite so ‘large’! Right now the worst thing I find in Matthew’s room is his favorite chicken ‘Mrs. Red”, but he’s only seven, so who knows right?

    1. Amy, love the chicken being in his room. I would do that too and I’m way over the age of 7 LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. this is hysterical Dawn. When I saw the photo and read your headline I thought, it must be like a little racecar that just looks life size! ha! laura

    1. No Laura it is life size for sure. I guess when you have a big bedroom anything can happen. LOL

    1. Jane we say that now. He has it made at our house hope he finds a wife that puts up with it all. LOL

That is just to funny, I raised 3 boys and very grateful I never came home to something like that, however I have come home to a golf course carved out of my back yard, and my back yard made up for a quad course, boys when left and they get board can dream up the dandiest things. Thank you and GOD bless

    1. Penny, my son is a golfer too but hasn’t thought that one up yet. Yes my son already had made the motocross track on our acreage, dandie ideas for sure ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Barbara, you just never know what boys will think up LOL

    1. Kris, I was so looking forward to our 30 degree day today. The sun is shining and the eves are dripping, but back to below zero tonight. I sure hope spring doesn’t’ miss us this year.

Oh my did that ever make me laugh!!!! I was going to mention how thoughtful he was to even think of putting down a cloth!! Boys will be boys!! mine dismantled his friend’s car – we were lucky enough to have a double sized heated garage back in the day – I came in to find no wheels on the car, the motor chained up, the doors gone – seats out – all that was left was the steering wheel – they worked all winter on it and come the spring they had a new souped up car only to be taken away by the cops…..what memories….today both his friends are married, one has two kids but my son is still the bachelor that loves to play and spoil everyone elses kids!!! What memories you have to look forward to!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Oh I love this story, my son would do the same thing. He has always loved taking things apart since he was about 2 years old, I guess they never grow out of it.

      1. crafty.grandma says:

LOL!! I even have him on film as a baby in diapers, half walking and half crawling to our old car – my husband was checking something under the hood – he gets up can’t see anything – frustrated, he hits the tire with his chubby foot only to fall down on his rear and burst into tears!! Today, he is a top used car salesman and recently became manager but selling and checking cars out is his passion. Unlike the bad rep that they usually have, he checks out the car himself and if he hears something wrong, sends it back to the mechanic to fix….it’s no wonder he managed to sell 50 cars in 30 days – a record at the company!!

        1. Wow, what a seller that’s great. My son loves to work on big monster diesel trucks. I so enjoyed hearing your story today ๐Ÿ™‚ It put a smile on my face.

This is exactly what my son would do! Made me laugh. He’s all grown now and would give anything if he was a little boy again. Read your site everyday!

    1. Lynell, thank you for letting me know you follow along ๐Ÿ™‚ My son is 20 but I guess there never to old for boyish ways.

  10. Funny! My son has always had Harley’s and more than once have I walked into his home and his HD was in the LR where he would be working on it! Guess it’s a ” boy” thing!

    1. Judy, LOL I guess it is, boys think up the darndest things.

  11. I was almost afraid to look when I saw the title of your post, Dawn. It did give me a laugh. xo Laura

    1. Laura, only boys can think up these things. LOL

    1. I guess Carol, they sure do think differently LOL

  12. LOL! You’re a good sport, Dawn! When my dad and uncle were kids, they took their pony Dandy up the back steps onto the porch at our cabin–and then discovered that ponies don’t like to go DOWN steps! My grandma let them take Dandy through the cabin, out to the front porch were there was only one little step that Dandy could jump over and get back onto solid ground. During the whole thing, my grandpa was sitting in his easy chair, peering over the top of the newspaper at what was going on. After Dandy successfully made it out, all Grandpa just shook his head and just said “Silly boys!!” (Years later, when I was a kid, there were still hoof marks on the wood floors from Dandy’s visit. Oh, and funny thing…this was also a log cabin–in Michigan!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Denise, Love your story it warms my heart and put a smile on my face ๐Ÿ™‚ What good memories.

  13. First of all, my son would love your son’s quad!!!! And I so understand this. Raising a son to be a man is a mothers greatest task. And part of that is letting them be a little wild and dirty and free to express and experiment with all things man! I say you are a great mom!!!! You son is very lucky! Bless his sweet and funny heart!

    1. How sweet Yvonne, thank you for the kind words today ๐Ÿ™‚
