Finding Me Time & a $100 Visa Giveaway

Milano Cookies | CreativeCainCabin.comBusy, Busy, Busy… I’m trying to decide on fabric for the front porch – do I buy or do I make new slipcovers? It seems like I sometimes have too many ideas whirling through my head and I need a break from it all. When I get to that point my go-to favorite snack is Pepperidge Farmยฎ Milanoยฎ Mint Chocolate Cookies (I think you’ve heard me say more than once I’m a mint chocolate lover). I could make mint chocolate a meal or even a food group. I love all the roles I fill every day – a mother, daughter, friend, blogger, photographer and wife, but often don’t feel like I’m giving them as much attention as needed. Sometimes I just need a me moment, time to focus on myself and pause to enjoy life – and I know my porch will be waiting for me when I get back to it.

As I enjoy a cookie I’m looking over fabric scraps trying to decide on what to do. I’ve been looking at this turquoise and coral floral that I’ve had in my fabric stash as something that may work and give the porch a summertime feel. It always seems hard for me to do, log homes are hard to decorate if you’re not looking for the lodge feel.  As you know turquoise and coral color combination is big right now, you can find it everywhere, so finding coordinating fabrics for pillows and such should be easy to do. My other idea is to use simple drop cloths as slips and give the space pops up colors with throw pillows, and rugs.  I recently purchased a grill too so I’ll have to make that work in the whole decor scheme as well (I’ll be back with more on that later, I have a few ideas brewing). I believe the later idea sounds like the easiest and it may be what I go with. So while pondering over my decision I think I’ll get back to enjoying my favorite cookies, catch up on a few blogs, and enjoy my me time.

Hmmmmm!!! ME time …how do I spend it…well for starters every day at 2:00 I sit in MY living room (consisting of a lazy boy – tv – and exercise bike and a big window looking outdoors, either sit (ie crochet knit) or bike watching my favorite show General Hospital. For that one hour there is no talking to me except maybe during a commercial break. Afterwards I go to my Mom Room which is right next to the Hubby Cave downstairs….LOL!! There I can sew,or craft to my heart’s content and I can still see outside even though it is in the basement….I can see the back of my garden roses and other flowers, in winter I see snow snow and more snow. Sometimes I just sit and watch the bees buzzing from flower to flower to flower something I cannot do outdoors!!! ….and that is my ME time. Of course, depending on the weather, I always have my cup of tea or iced tea!!! As for Milano’s cookies, like my kids used to say mmmmm good!! We used to live in an Italian district where there was a pastry store named Milano’s – when the kids were young I would go for walks and end up buying a bag of cookies or a baguette from Milano’s ….we would end up eating it all by the time we walked home – a 20 minute (one way) walk!!! LOL!! Instantly walking the calories off!! Their pastries were to die for!! Miss them so much!
