Florida Vacation for a 90th Birthday Party
Im back from my Grams 90th birthday party. My cousins and I boarded a plane and headed for Florida the end of last week. We did the same for my Gramps 90th. We felt it was quite a milestone and should be celebrated with family.
Here are some photos from my 4 day trip. We did everything from eat out, have a party, go to the dog races, to walks on the beach.
Our family, on my Moms side, spent every summer together as we were growing up. We traded between Michigan, the home I grew up in, and North Carolina, my Uncle’s home, every other summer. Both places were a 3 story home and I remember people sleeping everywhere, even under the dining room table.
We played with our cousins. Spent time with our aunts, and uncles and have so many wonderful childhood memories, and we discussed them all at Grams party. It’s so warming to reminisce.
We celebrate without our spouses, and make it an โoriginal family member” celebration. Iโm telling you I laughed until I cried some days, and even almost wet my pants at one point (sure sign I’m getting old).
Here’s the gang all gathered on the boardwalk for a family pic. I set the timer on my camera and snapped away, and of course my favorite pose is this one. I like how it’s informal and not posed at all.
The birthday girl, even had a crown to wear for the day. Here she is opening gifts and listing to us all chat about our memories, and we also looked through all the family albums and did that “remember when” thing.
(If you watch the video closely you will notice 2 dolphins emerge from the water from time to time).
My Gram said her face hurt from so much laughter and smiling. She enjoyed every minute of it. Did I mention sheโs no ordinary Granny? She can hang with the best of us. She still has evening activities of Bingo, and card games. Gets up in the morning and does a workout video, and drives and lives by herself. Sheโs quite a spit fire.
Iโm very blessed to have such good health on both sides of my family. No medical issues, everyone of sound mind and body. I sure hope Iโm that way at 90.
Itโs such a wonderful reminder of how great our family is and can unite under any circumstances when I see us all together celebrating our beloved Gram. She canโt wait to do it again.
would you tell us the city you vacationed in in Michigan? We would Like to get away for a few days this summer. Thank you!
Rita, I was in Florida I live in Michigan ๐
Dawn, it looks like such a great time together. Wow, 90 and feeling great? That’s awesome. I just visited my dad who will be 83 in October and he is losing his memory. It’s so sad. Your family is truly blessed.
Kim, that is so sad Im so blessed that doesn’t seem to be an issue on either side of my family. We live forever around these parts ๐
Oh how wonderful to celebrate your Gram’s 90th birthday with special family surrounded by the beauty of the beach. Your Gram sounds truly amazing….A lady with a true zest for life…I am amazed that she is still driving too!…My mom is turning 90 very soon and we had to take her car away…she was getting too many speeding tickets…seriously!! Glad you had a great time!
Shirley, Haha your mom getting speeding tickets….that’s what you do when you’re young. My gram got pulled over recently for the first time for doing a rolling stop at a stop sign in her park, luckily all she got was a warning.
I’m so glad you had a good time…your pics are amazing. There is just something about the beach. ๐
Ann, it was so fun to be with all my family and talk about the good ole’ days.
It was an awesome event, very touching and heart-warming. Thanks, Dawn, fir the amazing photo shoot! Love you to the moon and back!
Ko, wouldn’t have missed it for the world…nothing better than family times.

Beautiful pictures Dawn…You sure do came from people who live long healthy lives…lucky for you…I wouldn’t expect one of your Grannies to be anything but a spit fire..I bet you will be one too at 90…lol
Nancy yes I say people never die in our family, lol. I have 2 very feisty grams that’s for sure.
What wonderful memories you made! If we all would be so blessed to live a healthy life to 90.
Pam I know we come from good stock in these parts, and it’s a blessing for sure.
Your gram and my aunt should get together. We all gathered together last fall for her 90th – a weekend of kayaking.
Which one are you in the pic, I couldn’t tell for sure.
Carol, that sounds like a fun time. I have never tried to kayak. Im the one in the middle with the bright blue flip flops on, yellow shirt, and jean capris.
Loved the pictures! Gram gives me inspiration to keep on going!
Lorraine

What a lovely family get together, and so wonderful that Granny is still so active. I sure hope I’m that way at that age ๐
Linda, I hope Im like her too at that age, no grass grows under her feet thats for sure.
Oh Dawn how sweet. I love the informal family picture of all of you. Too sweet. Glad your gram was there to celebrate with all of you. She looks so great. Wishing her many more wonderful years. Have a good week end.
Kris
Kris, it was a great time and we all loved every minute of it.
Dawn that is fabulous. What a great celebration and blessing to have your Gram! She looks awesome. I love your Florida pictures. What a beautiful beach that is. I know it, been there several times when we lived in South Florida.
Debbie, I forgot you used to live in Florida….what a small world ๐
Dawn, I really enjoyed seeing your beautiful vacation photos. How wonderful that so many members of your family could get together for your Gram’s birthday. We had a 90th birthday party for my mother and I saw some cousins that I had not seen for over 30 years. But you know, we picked up just like it was yesterday.
Jane, we do the same we talk about our childhood adventures. Luckily all my family lives within a 30 mile radius so we see each other often. We get together once a month for dinner, so we keep in touch. Gotta love family time ๐
Can you please let me know where this house was located and how you rented it. We are also planning a 90th for my father.
Thank you
