How To Pack a Carry On Vacation

How To Pack A Carry On Vacation | Tips For What you Need and What you Can do Without | How to Roll Clothing | CreativeCainCabin.comI’m pretty sneaking right, you didn’t even know I had a mini vacation! I took a quick trip to Florida for a surprise 90th birthday party for my Grama who lives there. Since I was only going for 4 days I knew I wanted to pack light, with just a carry on. I didn’t want the hassle of checking a bag and then waiting for it in baggage claim. So I opted to use a messenger bag as my carry on and be very picky in what I placed in it. I needed multifunction, minimal, and only what was needed to get the job done.

I used to take a pair of shoes for every outfit, jewelry, and things that I can now do without. That was back in the day when I thought I needed to be a beauty queen all the time. Now no one cares if I wear the same thing twice and no one will ever know with this selection, everything’s the same.

#4 – Ane and Lulu Messenger Bag

#1 – Big Girl Camera (can’t do without that on a vaca, I’ll also have my cell phone for taking photos if I need too)

#2 –  Ziplock with Beauty Products – BB Cream, Mascara, Blush, Chapstick

#3 – Sunnies (can’t go to Florida without my sunglasses)

#5 –  Ziplock with Electronics – Memory Cards, Granny Glasses, Cell Phone Cord, Battery Charger

#6 – Key Board  – I don’t know about you, but I can’t type on an ipad without a keyboard when it’s my only way to stay in contact with blogging

#7 – ipad

#8 –  4 White T-shirts

#9 – 4 Pair of Undies

#10 – 2 Pair of Denim Capris, one in the bag and one on my body.

I also will wear the only pair of flip flops I’m taking, and I will wash out my bra in the sink at night. My mom left for Florida about a week before me and she was driving so I put my swimsuit, and a tank top and boxers (for sleeping), in her car so that’s already there waiting on me. I’ve discovered I really can pack less and make do. We won’t’ be attending anything fancy so T’s and capris will be all I need.

For the trip home I’ll grab one of those post office boxes that are one price for all the contents, and put my things in it and have them shipped home, making it easier yet on me for the return flight. It’s cheaper to mail items than it is to pay the airlines to check a bag.

Don’t forget to come back on Friday to see pics from my mini vaca.

  2. Great tips…I have recently used the eBags and was able to pack a 8 day trip to France using only one carry on bag and a small tote to put under the seat….and I LOVE your new header!!!

    1. Shirley, I love it when I can pack light. Im always afraid if I check it my bag will be lost, so I’ve learned to make do with a carry on.
