Spray Painted Dining Room Cabinet With Dark WalnutYes another painting project! I was a girl on a mission to change the cabins color scheme to something neutral and I wasted no time. The color I chose for the dining room cabinet is called “Dark Walnut”, it’s not black and it’s not brown it’s a mixture of both and I like it much better than standard black, it seems to fit perfectly with the wood tones.

Spray Painted Dining Room Cabinet With Dark WalnutThis was the last piece I had to paint but needed some help getting it outside. It’s been so windy here that it made it impossible to paint with a spray can but finally a hot, calm day came along and hubby helped me carry it out. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM I have before pics of the cabinet or you can see it HERE.  I’m still deciding on paint colors for the kitchen cupboards, my first thought was to do the island and lower cabinets in a dark gray and the upper cabinets in ALMOND to match the dining room chairs. Before now I’ve always just put a fresh coat of the current kitchen cabinet paint color on once a year to freshen them up.

Spray Painted Dining Room Cabinet With Dark WalnutI’m totally dreading the thought of painting cabinets, it’s easy when I use the same color but doing a color change means I have to do the inside of the doors and drawers along with the outside. It’s a big project to tackle for sure. I’ve been looking them over and deciding on how to break it into tasks so I see progress and have a timed plan for getting them all done. I’m an organized person and seeing dishes stacked on the counter for days while I paint doesn’t sound appealing to me at all. Anyone want to have a painting party at my place?

the cabinet looks gray in the pictures. I like when the island is a different color then the cabinets so what about leaving the cabinet white and painting the island almond. less work but it would be a little change too.

Angela, the island and cabinets are both off white now so I don’t think I’d notice a difference in the color. Maybe I’ll just do the island gray and see how I like it before moving forward with painting anything else. Great idea 🙂 thanks

It turned out really nice. The idea of using a dark walnut paint sounds lovely. I like Angela’s idea to do the island first and see if that is enough. My husband, son, and I just completed a bathroom refresh and the worst part for me was the 3-day displacement of everything. The end results exceeded my expectations, but I think I need a break before repainting the kitchen and dining room. An Amish-style painting party sounds like the way to go. Imagine what can be accomplished in a day!!

Jen oh ya a painting party sounds fantastic 🙂 I know what you mean about everything being out of sorts for a few days, I’ll hate that too.

Painting kitchen cupboards really is a chore. I can see why you are putting it off. xo Laura

Lauraw it’s easy when I use the same color but a total redo will need two coats, and I’m dreading that.

Good idea about painting the island first, try grey? Maybe you won’t have to paint the cupboards. The cabinet looks very nice and warm looking. Kathleen in Az

Melissa maybe I’ll empty the cabinets and have hubby take them off the wall so I can paint them outside with a sprayer.

Melissa I would much rather spray any day, it’s so much faster and a better finish in my opinion.

I would also paint the island first. Kitchen cabinets are such a lot of work to paint but such an accomplishment when completed . All your painted furniture looks great !!

Cheryl I guess that’s what I’ll tackle first and then go from there.

The cabinet turned out great, Dawn. It looks a bit like a metal finish, Very cool. I need a cupboard like that one of these days as we don’t have a broom closet in our kitchen. One of these days lol.

Elizabeth the cabinet is metal, it’s an industrial piece from an electrical company they used it as storage in their back room. I think the dark color fits in better with the log walls.
