Cabin Build the Lost Photos

This is going to be a picture heavy (bad picture heavy) post today. All photos were taken with a phone LBB (long before blogging), and at that time quality wasn’t an issue apparently or to tell you the truth I’m not sure I’m the one that even took them. All I know is I stumbled upon an old flash drive and there they were.

For those of you who haven’t followed along from the beginning I’ll give you a quick recap on the log cabin build. It took 5 years to complete and that’s because we did all the work ourselves, paid cash, and also had a full time job along with running our business. There were many times we didn’t work on the place for long periods of time but by the time the 4th year rolled around we went like crazy to get the place completed.

It’s a 3 story house with a total of 3,600 square feet. It’s totally environmentally friendly and every log came from a local saw mill here in Michigan. It was a fun experience for our family to work together and build our dream but it was also a lot of work. Log homes need a lot of maintenance over the years and I’m not so sure we’d do it again, but I love that we have the memories.

  1. I never knew the background story on your cabin, Dawn – very impressive how you did it yourselves and paid cash as you went.
