Today I’m back to share with you how I transformed an old brass headboard to look like the perfect farmhouse iron headboard and all I needed was 2 cans of oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I’d been wanting a headboard for the guest room for quite some time but you know how that goes, sometimes the guest room is the last to get any attention.
When I did find the perfect headboard it just wasn’t in my price range so I decided to add it to my ongoing garage sale list I keep on my phone. I figured one of these days I run across something like I wanted or something I could transform to get the look.
That’s exactly what happened, while out garage saleing I came across the perfect makeover piece, an outdated brass (faux) headboard that still had all the hardware to go with it. And to my surprise they were only asking $2 for it. I pondered it for a while and then decided for $2 how could I go wrong, I’d find a way to make it work.
And that’s exactly what I did! I picked up two cans of spray paint in Oil Rubbed Bronze, gave the headboard a rub down to clean it with TSP, let that dry and started painting. I applied 2 coats of paint, brought it into the house, and attached it to the bed. The perfect farmhouse headboard that came to the grand total of $8 and 30 minutes of my time. Gotta love those garage sale prices!
Dawn, the bed looks wonderful. I would have never guessed it was painted. That was cleaver indeed, and you can’t beat the price. !
i love it! what a great find and “do over”
Good morning Dawn, spray paint has come along ways. Love the transformation and the shelves above the bed.

Dawn, that’s the most amazing $2 bed I’ve ever seen!
Love this!!!
What a great way to makeover a faux brass headboard. I’ll be on the lookout for one to do for me.
I love the bed. Great job. I could use a single just like that.
