WHEN IN DOUBT PAINT IT BLACK…. I SERIOUSLY DOUBTED MY FIRST CHOICE IN A PAINT COLOR FOR THE FRENCH DOORS OFF OUR PATIO, AND AFTER SEEING HOW QUICKLY THEY GOT DIRTY I’M GLAD I WENT WITH MY SECOND CHOICE, BLACK; NEUTRAL IS ALWAYS A WINNER ANWWAY!
I’m back with round two of painting the patio french doors. If you scroll down you’ll see my original paint choice, I thought it would really give the space a bit of a pop only to find out that dirty hands leave dirty hand prints all over a pretty celery green door; insert sad face here.
My boys and hubby use this door more often than the main entrance. From their jobs they are always greasy dirty, you know those kind of hands that still look filthy even after they wash them? Well I wasn’t about to continuously fight it and have to be washing a door all the time so I went with my second choice, black.
One of the reason I went with black was to hide the dirt, and I already had it in my stash from painting the farmhouse bench. It was the good stuff too from Sherwin Williams and made for exterior use so to me it was a no brainer…. use what I have and love it or learn to love it.
Well guess what? I LOVE it, it’s so much better than the green any day and it works with everything else we have going on at the backside of our home. I didn’t bother painting the white portion in the center of the glass not just because it’s an absolute pain to do but we plan on putting in a all new french doors before winter hits.
Keep your fingers crossed that the weather holds out and we find the time to do it. The french doors we have are 8 years old and in need of something new, things just aren’t made like they used to be anymore and doors are one of those things. We had one blow open in a summer store this year so it’s damaged and we want to replace them all at the same time with the same kind of door.
I have more to show you in the upcoming weeks; our backyard project was completely finished this week so all I need to do is photograph it to share with you. It’s amazing how much it changed the look of our home and I’m sure the value of it also. I can’t believe what a family friendly space it turned out to be.
