Our fields are littered with wildflowers this time of year and it makes it so convenient to have blooms to decorate with. As hubby and I drove up the driveway I noticed the Wild Bee Balm was blooming, so you guessed it I rummaged through my purse and found my garden nippers and did a little flower cutting. I love the lavender color agains all the tall green grass and while I was cutting the smell of licorice filled the air. Wild bee balm gives off that smell when brushed up against.
I thought the arrangement looked best on the porch, so I will have to spend some time out there swinging and enjoy it. Some of the flowers last longer than others and bee balm is one with a short cut life. I normally get about 3 days out of it before the delicate purple petals start to fall.
Just another simple pleasure I enjoy during the summer months. What wildflower are in bloom in your neck of the woods?
