Fall Porch Decor

Fall Porch Decor | CreativeCainCabin.comI know I said I wasn’t going to decorate the front porch for fall this year, but I did add just a few fall elements. It felt a little naked not having anything out there and with the side porch looking like fall it seemed a little neglected. The only people that come through our front door are uninvited. If you know us, you use the side door and just come on in….no knocking required. Our home is always open, and often I come home and find a kid had dropped by and helped themselves to a meal. The only evidence in the dirty dishes in the sink.

I purchased the pumpkins from a local farmer and grabbed the mums from our local hardware. It took just a few minutes to put it all together and it looks better than an undecorated porch.

Fall Hanging Basket | CreativeCainCabin.comI didn’t know what to do with my hanging baskets that were once beautiful and full with mini, cascading flowers…..no so pretty after the frost as you can see, so I applied the same principle I did to the side porch whiskey barrels. First I cut back all the dead flowers, then lined the basket with straw, and loaded it with leftover pumpkins and gourds. The porch won’t be seen by any trick-or-treaters but I know I put forth a little effort in making it feel like fall.

    1. Thank you Kris, this is the first year I tried to reuse them. I paid a hefty fee for the baskets so hated to not keep using them.

  5. Well, of course to had to add a little fall to your porch and it looks lovely! I can’t believe you leave your house unlocked! I’m glad it’s safe where you live. I’d probably freak out if I came home and found food missing! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Shelia, I don’t even know where the keys are to our house. We also leave the keys in our cars, trucks, and equipment. People do stop and borrow things from time to time. I have come home before and the dump truck has been missing, I don’t report it as missing I just assume some needed it. LOL

  6. Always so sad to see the containers after the first killing frost. That hasn’t happened here yet. The pumpkins and gourds were the perfect touch. xo Laura

    1. Laura, we have been getting frost for quite some time now and even during the day it is cold. I did my 5 mile walk today while it was 40 degrees and that was at 1 in the afternoon. I think winter is getting close.

  7. Love seeing your “whole” house – not sure I have before – and it looks great with Fall touches and that gorgeous tree in the background!

    1. Barb, I think the only posts I have of the whole house are the porch ones. Yes our maple trees are beautiful right now.

    1. Thank you Cheryl, we are expecting snow here on Friday so it may be all covered up by that white stuff.
