I was scurrying around getting our guest cottage ready for the summer, my Mom and Dad were on their way from Florida. I made a batch of egg salad and cut up some fruit to put in the refrigerator. I knew after all that driving they would want a quick bite to eat before they dropped into bed.
And at the last minute I decided they needed a batch of fresh flowers in the house, to welcome them. Well no time to run to the store so I decided to make do with what was close. Luckily in Michigan something wild is growing in the roadside ditch all summer long, I never have to purchase flowers.
I hopped in my Jeep and drove out to the road where I could cut the flox that grow wild, back to my herb garden to cut mint springs, and into the kitchen to slice some lemons. I used two parfait bowls in different sizes and nested them, placing the lemon slices between the two bowls.
Loaded it in my vehicle and drove it to the guest house. While it was closed up inside the Jeep I could smell the mix of mint and lemon, it smelled so nice together. I had it placed on the side table before they got home, and was delighted I decided to go to the extra work. Whew what a whirlwind kind of day. I think I went 100 MPH to get everything just perfect, now I can relax and enjoy their company for the summer.
