It’s that time of the year when I look in the mirror and notice, spring is here, and so is all that winter fat I’ve accumulated. I just love winter clothing, with all the layers I can hid a multitude of sins. But in order to shed a few pounds before capris and short sleeve weather, I’m hitting the smoothie recipes as a replacement meal. Anyone else in the same boat?

  1. I love smoothies. YUM!!! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but losing weight unfortunately just keeps getting harder as we age. ๐Ÿ™

  2. Losing weight, I’m 63 ahmmm, is so hard I’ve lost the same 4 lbs the past two months over and over! I do the 21 Day fix too and it certainly is not for babies, I have noticed a difference in my jeans and other clothes, I have just started Shakeology 4th day today so I’ll let you know after a month goes by! I also gave you a shout out on my blog today:) Love blueberries!

    1. Rondell that is the worst to keep taking off the same few pounds and then regaining them. I love the 21 day fix workout, I have friends I do it with and we mix it up all the time. Can’t wait to hear how Shakeology is working for you. Thanks for the shout out I’m headed over to check it out.

    Blueberry is my favorite berry!

    1. Nancy you should give this a try then ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. You had me at “blueberries!” Well, at weight loss too.. aren’t we all trying to lose at least a few pounds? I know I am ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the recipe – I have everything to make this.. yippee! -Tammy

    1. Tammy, you will love it, it’s so delicious.

  5. Due to months of old pc and new pc problems I must have missed your post about your fall. I’m so sorry to hear that, hope you didn’t have to spend time in hospital. How did you hurt yourself? Must have been one heck of a fall. No fall is good but one that debilitates a person as you were is worse.
I fall quite often due to hearing problems and lousy balance, also one of my meds says to be watchful due to possible dizziness from meds. Due to my age (74) & osteoporosis I’m concerned about breaking a bone. One time I fell right on my butt on our front yard hill in San Diego and broke 2 vertebrae, talk about painful. I’d been packing my Bronco 2 to go to CO river outside Yuma, AZ for Easter weekend, ended up spending weekend in hospital. I know it’s so possible for me to break a hip. My bones are in bad shape, lost bone in mouth, lost all my bottom teeth. Hope you don’t have osteoporosis and if you do you take D3. I’ve had menopause since mid 30’s due to lack of thyroid, had early onset menopause at 31 due to hysterectomy. thyroid didn’t work when I was born. Total bummer. Sometimes being a woman is big pain everywhere, lol.
Did you go to physical therapy after your fall? Or maybe pt would help you now. So sorry to hear you have had such a hard time walking. Hard to get things done with such a situation. Do you have to go up any stairs? Don’t remember enuf about your home. Take really good care of yourself and pray you’ll be doing better as soon as possible. I pinned this recipe for smoothie. There are lots of things I can’t eat anymore due to no bottom choppers, drat. I have greek yogurt for breakfast and blueberries and raspberries. Get some good protein that way.
    Hope you have great weekend

    1. JaneElle, I hope you try the recipe you will love it. I’m recovered as much as I can be now from my fall. thanks for stopping in ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. They’re a great way to get good nutrition all in one glass. I love fast and easy.

  6. Cheryl Major says:

I have lost and gained the same 10 pounds over and over again. Clearly I have that pattern down pat ! Your smoothie sounds great and I love blueberries so I will give it a try and see if it helps keep me fuller longer…Thanks for the recipe

  7. I drink a weight loss smoothie every morning. I love blueberries & banana smoothies w/Chia seeds in it. I have tons of really good smoothies for weight loss, so I have many to pick from each morning. In the last 2 months I’ve lost over 40 plus pounds. I feel so good about myself. I still have more weight I want to lose. Right now I’m just wearing a belt w/my clothes, or they fall off. Since I have more weight I want to lose, right now I’m not going to buy any new clothes that I will grow out of. I don’t want to waste any money on clothes unless I absolutely have to.

    1. Renee, Congrats on such a big weight loss. What are you doing besides the smoothies that seems to work for you?

  8. I’m not doing really anything else except drinking detox waters that help me lose weight
Since I’m disabled it is very hard to exercise since I’m in a wheelchair.

    1. Renee do you make your own detox water or purchase it?

  9. II maker my own detox waters & juices. There are a lot of Detox waters & juices on Pinterest that I drink during the day.

    1. Renee I’ll have to look for them. Have you ever detoxed with essential oils?

  10. I haven’t tried making my smoothies w/essential oils yet, but I plan to real soon when we go to our health food store & buy them. I want to put them in my detox waters too. I want to get citrus ones plus lavender. I love the smell & taste of lavender in foods like healthy cookies & scones. They say they are really good for your body. Will let you know how they work out when I buy & make the smoothies & detox waters.

    1. Renee I use Young Living oils for everything. I put the citrus ones in my water if I want a change.

  11. Thx for sharing! Anxious to try it. Any low calorie recipes are always appreciated!

  12. Literally the only method of losing weight that works for me is giving up bread. I stopped eating flour and processed sugar on January 2 and I’m down 12 pounds. But, when we go out to dinner or to a party, I eat whatever is served and don’t stress about it.

    1. Carol, that one doesn’t seem to work for me. It’s funny how everyone is different. I wonder if different body shapes do better with different diet plans?

  13. Almond Shea says:

My dietician banned smoothies…stating the minute you blend berries/fruit in the blender or food processor…it’s liquid sugar. Here I thought I was having “healthy” smoothies…when I was putting my blood sugar even higher. To benefit from fruit…eat it in it’s raw stage…chew it.

    1. I think that’s a sign of having troubles with carbs if fruit in your smoothie raises you blood sugar.

  14. I imagine that the different body shape theory is true. The no bread method works for me because my family carries all their weight in their bellies. I have friends who carry all their weight in their hips.

  15. Debbie Lorson says:

Your smoothie looks amazing. Will have to try it. I have been reading your blog for over a year and I never knew you had a fall. Of course, this past year was full of hardship, three family deaths, and planning the daughters wedding. Exhausting isn’t even a good enough word to use for 2016. Take care, Dawn. Spring should get here soon. It’s a cold, gloomy and rainy day in St. Charles. Was going to pot pansies but not doing that in the rain.
