SEE HOW YOU CAN CLEAN UP THE FOOTBED OF SUEDE SANDALS TO GET RID OF THE GRIME AND DIRT BY USING THIS EASY METHOD: SANDPAPER AND A LITTLE SCRUBBING!
I’ve hauled out my summer sandal stash and decided it was finally time part with my favorite boho B.O.C sandals. If you look close not only are the foodbed’s filthy, almost sticky feeling, but the leather is starting to pull away from the sole. I painfully put them in the trash only to go back and retrieve them later. I just couldn’t part with them! They go with everything from jeans, capris, to skirts and dresses. Nope I was determined to find a way to clean them up enough to finish out this season with them while I tried to find a replacement pair.
Now mind you these sandals are old, I’ve had them for over 5 years so I knew it would be a challenge to get them clean or at least presentable again. After doing a little google research I found that using sandpaper on suede footbeds will clean them right up and make them look like new again. I’m sure mine would have turned out much better if I’d tried to clean them years earlier but for 5 years of dirty build up I think they turned out pretty good and yes I will be wearing them again this summer. I just couldn’t get the right sandal heal area as clean as the left, but I remember there was a piece of duct tape in that spot for years.
I used 120 grit sandpaper, pressed firmly and worked in small sections to clean them up. It took about 5 minutes to do and I’m beyond happy with the results. This hack is a keeper in my book and from now on I won’t let my sandals get out of hand before I give them a good cleaning. Give it a try you’ll be amazed at how well this method works.
