For those of you who don’t know, we are selling off our homes and properties and plan on building again. I actually stay awake at night planning the new house in my head. I know when I designed the log home I spent countless hours drawing the plans (on the computer), moving walls, redesigning areas trying to get it all right with the space I had to work with. I feel that will be more of a challenge this time since we are building a home 1/3 the size of the one we currently live in.
I will also have white cupboards again, and I like how seamless the white appliances feel in the space. Right now I have stainless, which I love, but I’m ready for a change.
I also want to go with a combination of concrete and butcher block countertops. I adore our concrete now, and would make that choice all over again, but I’d like the warm feel the wood butcher block has to it. Luckily, hubby can make both styles for me, and he doesn’t care about kitchen design so I can go with what I want. Actually, all he cares about are the meals that come out of the kitchen. If I keep him fed he’s happy, I need to introduce him to Maryann, the Cookie Lady of Rome, NY.
My next debate is whether to have an island with seating, and no dining room or keep my farmhouse table and create an eat-in kitchen with no island. I think that’s going to be my hardest decision to make. We never use the dining room in our current house, but I’m in love with my farmhouse table and would never give it up.
