Apple Chip Snack

Apple Chip Snack

Today I want to share with you a tasty Apple Snack Chip. These are great for kids lunches or just a healthier version of a potato chip. Do you ever just sit in front of the tv munching on chips and before you know it the whole bag is gone? If so try these Apple Snack Chips they will save you tons of calories and satisfy that desire to be munching on something. Every year by the end of apple season I am looking for ways to use up the last bit of apples we picked at the orchard and dehydrating them always seems to be the best solution for me. It’s one of those tasks that takes care of itself all you have to do is slice the apples and let the dehydrator do the rest. I have used several different varieties of apples and find they all turn out equally as good. If you have a favorite I recommend that’s what you use.

If you don’t have a food dehydrator you can still make these Apple Chip Snacks all you will need is your oven, parchment paper, and cookie sheets. If you have a dehydrator follow the instructions for dehydrating fruit, if not print the recipe below for dehydrating in your oven. If you missed the “Easy Peach Crisp Recipe” you can find it here.

    1. Kris, our weather is supposed to cool down for Thursday and be in the 50’s for Friday. I can’t wait, I so hate hot temps. I just ate the last of my apple chips last night so I need to make some more.

  3. Hi,
Yummy, what a great idea. Do you add any sugar and cinnamon to the apples before baking?

    1. Carla, I never have but you certainly could.

  4. Great idea, Dawn. But I won’t be turning the oven on until this A/C gets repaired! But I’d much rather munch on these than nasty, fattening chips!

    1. Claudia, so sorry to hear the air is still not fixed, I bet the cold front blows through your area tonight. It is chilly here today, the cold front went through last evening.

  5. I bet this would be good with Honey Crisp apples. Talk about saving calories! I will definitely be trying this…

    1. Ann, Honey Crisp are my favorite apple but I don’t seem to notice a flavor difference once they are dehydrated.

  6. Hi Dawn, I have never tried to dry apples but I’d like to give it a try. I’m not a big snacker but Leo is and this would be much healthier. Maybe I can dry some this weekend while I’m decorating the porch!

    1. Jane, my boys brought me 6 bushel of apples last night so I will be making cider and dehydrating them this weekend. I bet Leo would love them:)
