Baby Quilt using Quilt as You Go Method

My niece is having a baby girl, and for me it was the perfect
opportunity to do something I love…
I just recently made another baby quilt for my Best Friends Daughter.
Over the years I pick up the quilting hobby from time to time.
I find you have to have a need for the quilt or they just pile up
and have no one to enjoy them.
The color theme for the baby’s room is Pink and Brown and I decided
to do a quilt as you go, strip quilt.
What an easy way to quilt, I just loved using this method.
You start in the middle of the quilt and work towards the ends.  As you add
another strip you quilt through all layers of fabric and batting and it’s all
quilted in one step.
Loved how quickly it all came together.
You can find a tutorial for making the “Quilt as You Go” HERE.
While I was at it I whipped of several cute bibs too.
All you need is a scrap of fabric and I used a thin white towel as my backing.
The bib tutorial can be found HERE
along with a downloadable bib template.

I just returned home from spending nearly a month awaiting the birth of my little grandbaby boy. He is beautiful and a miraculous answer to prayer. He was two weeks overdue and we came close to losing him. He is doing well today and we are all thrilled to have him in our life.

I made him a quilt and will share it in a future post. I love the colors and prints you chose for your quilt. What a happy mommy and baby you have gifted with your loving handiwork.
Thank you for sharing and for hosting such a fun party. I am happy to have been able to join in.

  5. I have never heard of quilt as you go…it sounds perfect. Fast is always good too! When my children were born I received a few hand made things and I treasure them to this day. What a lovely gift!

  6. That is so sweet. My last one had a nursery in brown and pink so I adore this combo. I can’t wait until I can steal a minute and read your post on shooting in manual mode. I am so lame at using what my camera can do.

  7. Such a cute quilt! I truly like the simpler ones for today’s babies. I remember the ladies here working for months on a special baby quilt that probably was rarely used because of all the work in it. I’m printing out your tutoral right now–it sounds so easy!
