Container Garden Vegetables
I wanted to show you what vegetables are producing in my container garden right now. After finding a method to keep the deer out things took off, and I’m happy to report my fishing line deer fence worked perfectly……no deer feeding in my garden anymore. Now if the rain would quit and the sun would stay out I think the rest of the garden might have a chance.
I have a funny story to tell you….I’ve been watching a chipmunk play in my raised bed garden, he actually uses it like a raceway maze. Well, I discovered he’s made a tunnel in one of the beds and is stockpiling unripened cherry tomatoes in his tunnel. He’s going to be surprised come winter when all he has is rotted tomatoes.
He also has a couple of bunnie friends that can sneak in under the fence and they have a grand time running the maze. I noticed the bunnies stop for a bit of spinach every now and then, but their leaving enough for me so I haven’t shooed them out yet.
I think this week my yellow squash and zucchini squash will be ready for picking. I can’t wait I love to make zucchini planks or add them to kabobs on the grill. I could live on veggies, I’ve never found one I don’t like.
Tell me what’s producing in your garden and if you have any recipes I need to try with veggies. Below are some of my helpful garden tips:

The veggies look great!….so funny about the chipmunk……unfortunately I am unable to have a garden as the deer will wreak havoc on it…and would be unable to place any cover on them due to HOA/Golf course guidelines…. ๐
Have a great day Dawn!
Shirley that darn HOA ๐ The invisible fish line fence worked for me, no deer eating from the garden!
Those veggies are awesome Dawn! This year, I inter-planted veggies in my flower gardens, and it’s going great! The veggie plants really seem to benefit from being around all the flowers and herbs.
Amy that was my original plan too since so many of my perennials didn’t make it through the winter, but I didn’t follow through with it. So glad to hear it’s working out for you ๐
I was just wondering how your fishing line deer fence was working for you last night. I have yet to be visited by deer this year, which is not normal but I do plant on putting up my own fishing line fence soon, just to head them off at the pass, so to speak!
Pam yes the fence worked great, no deer at all ๐
Dawn,
You are such a great gardner and I know the veggies are so yummy for you guys. Looks so wonderful.
Kris
Thanks Kris, we do eat lots of veggies in this house. I have a gallon size bag of veggie scraps for the chickens every day!
