Decorating a Living Room With Lawn Furniture

YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT! I’M HERE TO SHOW YOU HOW TO DECORATE A LIVING ROOM USING LAWN FURNITURE WHEN YOU’RE IN A PINCH WAITING FOR NEW PIECES TO ARRIVE!

How to Decorate a Living Room With Lawn Furniture If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or are reading my new series “Talk Till Dawn” you know I’ve ordered new furniture for our living room. I knew I wanted to sell our existing furniture so I put a few feeler out letting my friends know my furniture would be looking for a new home.

Well I had someone interested in it right away and asked if they could take it before my new furniture arrived. I said yes, and decided to let the furniture go now rather than be rushed trying to find it a new home the  closer to the date our new stuff was to arrive. Mind you this has happened to me before. I order new only to have someone interested in my old weeks before the new stuff comes in.

I really didn’t want to put it on one of the buy sell places on the internet you never know what kind of crazy you’ll have knocking on your door. To me I’d rather take less money than risk being uncomfortable with whom I’m letting into our home.

That being said I looked around the space once the furniture was gone, all I had left was the one hard backed garage sale find chair, the area rug, and a couple of side tables. I mentioned to my hubby and boys that we could move the sofa and chairs from another level of our home but I didn’t get that yes let me get right on that look from any of them so I started thinking.

Why don’t I haul in the furniture on the front porch? We certainly don’t sit out there in the winter with freezing temperatures, the furniture doesn’t look bad, its comfortable, and it’s easy for me to move myself. So that’s exactly what happened I brought the cushions in to warm up and had hubby help me move in the chair and love seat bases.

I used the same throw pillows I previously had in the room, just less of them and decided it looked pretty darn good for lawn furniture.

It was easy to move and will be easy for me to take back out onto the porch once the new stuff arrives. So far the furniture company is giving me an estimated date of January 29 for it to come into the store. From there they’ll schedule delivery to our house, so it will be the beginning of February before I see it.

I don’t even think anyone who stopped by would realize it’s lawn furniture right off the bat. I do know the porch looks pretty bare right about now, but we can’t spend time out there anyway so who cares.

The OCD part of me won’t let the porch look bad for to long. I know I’ll have to get out there and rearrange the furniture that’s left to make it look somewhat better for the time being. So tell me what you think, I believe this is one of my better hair brained ideas! And as you all know I’ve had a lot of them, lol.

Dawn, it looks great. It reminded me of the time when my husband and I had first gotten married and had bought a house but no furniture. We had an old picnic table as our dining room set for a couple of years. And your right, no one would guess first off that it was lawn furntiure. Great job !

  6. I guess I’m not as OCD as others. Since you stated previously that you seldom use this living room, I would just have left it bare while I waited for the new furniture to arrive, rather than move the outdoor furniture inside then having to move it back outside to the porch again. I’m 75 years old – I do things the easy way. Each to their own.

    1. Iโ€™m pretty close to your age but Iโ€™ve never stressed over the small stuff nor do I worry about indoor/ outdoor whatever. As in clothes I dress/decorate in my own style/taste. The โ€œoutdoorโ€ furniture is used down Florida a lot
