OLD FASHIONED ENAMELWARE BUTTER DISH WITH WOODEN LID, AND BUTTER KNIFE. A REMINDER OF FARMHOUSE KITCHEN FROM DAYS GONE BY!

I know it seems a little strange to be writing about an enamelware butter dish but there’s a funny story behind it. If you’ve been following my new series “Talk Till Dawn” you’ve heard me mention I’m trying to shed a few pounds, well maybe more than a few, and in a round about way that’s what led to the butter dish.

When I follow a high fat diet, Keto, I get full much faster and after a couple of weeks I start getting insomnia. I track everything in the app My Fitness Pal, and after going back to review my 2 week history I noticed my calorie intake was way below 1000 per day and when I drop below that I experience calorie deficient insomnia. Yes it is a thing and you’d think I’d recognize it before I spend many nights getting little sleep.

My standard procedure when this is happening is to get up in the night and go downstairs, trying to avoid waking my hubby, and watch Netflix on my iPad with my ear phone in. After several ours of doing that I normally get tired again and wander back up stairs to bed. I though nothing of it until the next day I got a text alert from Amazon saying my package had been shipped. I thought to myself, what package I don’t remember ordering anything. So of course I couldn’t resist I logged into Amazon to see where the mistake was, only to find out I was having this cute as ever butter dish delivered.

I didn’t stop the order, but also didn’t remember ordering it. I had to call my BFF right away and tell her what stupid thing I’d done while sleep deprived. We got a good laugh and declared the butter dish quite fitting for the cabin. Starting that day I made sure to up my calorie intake before God knows what else I’d have coming in the mail, LOL. I really do love it though it holds a pound of fresh butter from our local creamery, MooVille.

Love the butter dish so much. You obviously have great taste, even when not in your right mind. 🙂 I wouldn’t have cancelled the order either – it’s a cute addition to your kitchen.

Saw an article on local news that one family kept getting free things through Amazon that they didn’t order. Nothing big, just a lot of gadgets. Maybe you didn’t order that butter dish!

Dawn, you are just too funny! Hope you’re eating more and getting some rest! I love that butter dish! I buy butter in a large round so I’m thinking it would fit in the dish! I remember the days when my grandmother made fresh butter. Nothing like it!

Jane this one holds a pond of butter in the rectangle shape. When I’m in Indiana I buy Amish butter in the two pound round size, so I’ll just have to cut it to fit and freeze the rest.
