Farmhouse Style
What could be easier than gathering your rusty, twiggy, worn out items and creating a Farmhouse Style seating area on the front porch? Well that’s exactly what I did, I have $5 invested in the whole project and that was spent on the beautiful pink perennial. While shopping at Lowes I couldn’t resist all the flowers in the garden center. I knew it was to cold here to start planting so I restrained myself and only purchased one pot of Neon Rose Saxifraga.
I used an old water can that a baseball mom gave me as my pot. When she brought it to my door step it was filled with annual petunias in bright purple and pink, after they died off for the winter I saved the can for just this purpose. A straw bale as my side table and a simple wicker chair make up one corner of the front porch.
You really don’t have to spend a ton of cash to get the look you like. I normally just sift through whatever is in the barn or basement and come up with something that will suit me just fine for a season. We are starting to get warmer days and it’s giving me the urge to do some outside work and decorating.

Beautiful. I love how it looks.

Thank you Pam, cheap and easy is always nice.
Your porch looks lovely. Isn’t it wonderful to be doing outside things. I’ve been thinking about changing up the things I have on my front area by the door, haven’t finalized anything yet, just lots of ideas floating through my mind ๐
Linda, I wish it would stay nice here so I could get more done. We seem to have a 50 degree day and then back to 30 ๐
I LOVE YOUR STYLE, Dawn! Easy, real and so so pretty! I bet you have great stuff to sift around in!
Yvonne, I have plenty of rusty junk in the barn for sure.
Looks so relaxing and pretty…you certainly have the touch to make everything look the way you want !
How sweet Rondell, I wish it would warm up a little so I could sit out there and read or sew.
That’s why I love farmhouse decor. Looks great, recycles, and is inexpensive. Have a great day on your beautiful porch. xo Laura
Laura, me too you can throw any kind of junk together and call it decor. LOL
You created a charming and cozy spot, Dawn. The flowers look sweet in the watering can!
Thank you JoAnne ๐ It is warming up a little here so I am anxious to get more flowers in the ground.
What a beautiful plant and a gorgeous photo of it! Love your farmhouse style, Dawn! It was warm here for a while, but for the past few days it’s been cold and rainy. Back to winter for us!
Jane, we have warmed up here. It was 77 today but back in the 50’s for the rest of the week.
I really admire how creative you are! You must have ideas always buzzing around in that fabulous creative brain of yours =)
Marie, LOL I do have lots of stuff going on in this head, not sure how creative it always is.
Dawn
You always do such a great job of sifting through and coming up with something beautiful!
Farmhouse style is soon becoming my favorite.
Kim, Farmhouse style is the best you can throw any old junk into the mix and call it decor. LOL
so lovely and what a wonderful gift of the watering can ๐
Penney, I was so excited to see that rusty piece ๐
I love the farmhouse style and how you made everything work so well together. I have two old wicker chairs and this is giving me some inspiration about how to put them to good use.
Jill, that sounds wonderful. I love using old things that I have hanging around. If there still functional why not keep them?
