Favorite Chore Talk
LET’S TALK ABOUT CHORES! WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE AND WHY?

Letโs talk chores; right now most of us have plenty of time on our hands for doing them thatโs for sure. Do you have favorite chores, the ones you donโt mind doing? I know I do! My number one all time favorite chore that I actually look forward to doing is laundry.

The best part about it is hanging it on the line and watching it blow in the breeze. The chores I like to do the best are the ones that are relaxing and peaceful to me.

My next favorite chore is taking care of the chickens. I keep them watered and fed and keep the coop clean. Itโs relaxing to watch them roam around the yard picking for bugs. Theyโre quite comical too with the way they run and the sounds they make. We have a black hen that has a birds call instead of a chicken cluck. Itโs so distinguishable compared to the other chicken sounds.

I also love the quiet time I spend out on the porch sweeping the dust from it. I know it sounds silly but I look forward to sweeping and thinking. I like to think I solve many a problems while sweeping and pondering. I also kick up a mini dust storm while doing it. Things get dusty around here living on a dirt road with a dirt driveway.

Last I enjoy being in the garden enjoying nature. I donโt mind planting or weeding (when I keep it under control) and the warm earth below my bare feet reminds me of when I was a kid. Itโs so rewarding growing and harvesting our food and my family enjoys all the fresh veggies.
So tell me whatโs your favorite chore or chores to do? And why!

Sunday May 3: Woke up to a glorious day. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I couldnโt wait to get the day started, right after an iced coffee that is. I washed a load of whites and hung them out on the line then my DIL and I headed to town. She wanted to pick up the lumber to build a few raised garden beds at her place and pick up a few perennials for their landscaping. We had to make a stop at Family Farm and Home and wouldnโt you know it she ended up picking up 5 new baby chicks so that makes 12 laying hens and one rooster named Mr. Fancy Feet, because he has feathers on his feet. Back to her house to drop off the lumber and plants then back to the cabin to drop off the chickens, eat a little lunch, and transplant the tomatoes that I started from seed. If you remember the post I did about planting in eggshells, well those are the seeds that need new pots. So far itโs not nice enough her to move them into the garden. Then I dug up a few clumps of Shasta Daisyโs to transplant at my Son and DILโs place. We had leftovers for dinner so I didnโt have to cook again today and now Iโm going to relax, put the chickens to bed, and then myself.
Monday May 4: It was a nice day outside I did a little planting of things close to the house so I can cover them if it looks like frost. My DIL and I went on a 6 mile bike ride and spent the rest of the day hanging out in the garden and watching the chickens.
Tuesday May 5: Itโs a cold and chilly day today not even reaching 50. I ended up mowing the yard wearing 3 sweatshirts, a winter hat, and mittens. Welcome to Michigan. Itโs not enjoyable doing yard work in those temperatures but I was glad to get it done before the rain comes tonight. I had to clean out the chicken coop again today; the meat birds have big messy poops that require coop cleaning twice a week. Itโs such a dreary day I decided to make Tate Tot Casserole for dinner. It just felt like a comfort food type of day.

Boy, you sure stay busy!! I look forward to reading your posts…
Itโs a beautiful day here in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Brenda, I’m so glad you are having a beautiful day. It was chilly but sunny here today. I do like the temps in the low 70’s anything over that and it’s to hot for me. We’re going to have several days of overnight frost here in Michigan so I’ll be dragging my veggie and flower plants in every night for a while. Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to comment!
