How to Organize Kitchen Cupboards
Remember Week #1 of our Cleaning Challenge was “Upper Kitchen Cupboards”? I’m back to show you how mine turned out. Since my knees are still recuperating from my fall I decided to break it into two 15 minute sessions. I did this set of cupboards to the right of the sink in the morning and then I did the left side of the sink in the afternoon.
For me there wan’t much to get rid of, but I did manage to get all the Christmas dishes in one area and organized the others by color. I even found a spot to hold my vintage pyrex. I normally have it in an area in my dining room, but I am planning on moving that piece to my office so the pyrex needed a new home.
Here’s a before and after, not a big change but it makes me feel good to see it all straightened up again. Since this cupboard has seasonal items in it I can normally keep it clean for quite some time.
Now that my little break is over, I was back ready to take on the left side of the cupboards. This side seems to be a catch all so more purging was needed over here.
I decided to organize all the over the counter meds in a pool basket, it makes it easier to pull it down and go through it. I always keep my cookbooks on the top shelf and get a small kitchen stool out to reach them. I did find a few strange items in this cupboard and since no one had been looking for them I decided into the trash they would go.
Here’s a before and after shot….and yes I had to keep that huge insulated Mt. Dew jug, it’s what I take my water in for golfing. It holds enough to get me through nine holes and it stays ice cold. I know it is an ugly eye sore but it is a well used item.
Now tell me all about how your first week of the challenge went. And if you missed how the series works and what areas are on the list to clean click here. Don’t forget next weeks area is the lower kitchen cupboards.

I hope your cupboards can STAY that way! And, I REALLY hope your knees get better!!
Pat, I figure if I only have to do it once every 5 years thats pretty good. My knees are better this week, but I think it will be a long time before I’m 100% ๐
I’m sorry to hear about your fall Dawn. Your cabinets look wonderful now.
Thank you Dee, I am back at cleaning another section today.
