Use a Pumpkin in Fall as a Door StopWhile I was on my massive downsize spree I came across a homeschool project my son did when he was about 6, he was learning to identify trees and leaves. I had him glue them to a white sheet of scrapbook paper and had them laminated at the library. Well while cleaning I found them and decided to use them as my fall artwork in the hallway entrance.

Press Leaves with your Kids and Frame them as Artwork for FallI just love how they even have his precious handwriting preserved forever alongside each leaf. There would’ve been a time I’d never considers using such things as artwork but with age I tend to treasure the little things more and more everyday. My boy will be 21 in 10 days, oh my the time has passed so quickly. Not only am I glad I homeschooled him I’m so happy I saved several projects we did together.

Decorate a Fall Entryway Using a Pumpkin as a Door Stop and Framed Pressed Leaves as Artwork The simplicity of the pumpkin used as a door stop and the leaves as artwork just warms my heart. Where does the time go and how can my baby be turning 21? It seems like just yesterday he was a toddler anxious to learn and experience new things. Just think he’s now a firefighter and a wonderful man.

Decorate a Fall Entryway Using a Pumpkin as a Door Stop and Framed Pressed Leaves as Artwork I couldn’t think of a better way to bring a smile to my face every time I walk through the door and see the leaves and remember that summer day we walked in the woods collecting our specimens together.

Happy Birthday to your son Dawn! What a heartfelt post of the days gone by with your son. I’m glad you framed the leaf project as a reminder. Love the first picture with the light coming in, so beautiful and soft looking on the pumpkin. Kathleen in Az

Kathleen thank you for the birthday wishes. Our foyer is so hard to photograph it is either sunny or dark so I had to go with the sunny day and make the pics work.

These look great. What a nice memory it makes for you too. Why not enjoy them rather than have them in a drawer somewhere. I love that it’s in his handwriting. My sister in law does a similar thing with snowman pictures her children did in school. They come out with the Christmas decorations and stay out all winter.
I agree, time goes by way too fast, our longest turned 20 years old this past summer. It’s nice to revisit those childhood memories again.

Thank you Debby, it’s amazing the things that turn up when I started cleaning out closets.

I’m with you, Dawn. My little girl is now 22 and those mementos from childhood are more precious than ever and are the BEST artwork! After all, I create a home and ‘decorate’ to please me and my family, not others.

Michele don’t you wonder how they get to be that age so fast?

Dawn such a lovely post, I truly believe that if we raise our children in a plain and simple lifestyle they really learn to appreciate and become productive adults. Simple is what God intended us to live by. God Bless..
