Winter Living Room in Navy Blue and Rust
Where did January go? I’ve had other posts get ahead of this one but I’m back to share with you the rest of my Navy and Rust decor to carry me through the remainder of winter. If you missed the dining room done in Navy and Rust you can see it here. I’m so glad I changed the furniture slipcovers over to something more neutral, it makes adding throw pillows and accent pieces much easier.
Before I always felt like I had to change the slipcovers when I wanted a new color in the house, and that was a lot of work. Not only are they very difficult to put on they take up a lot of storage space. So until I decided on new furniture, you’ll be seeing my place using the gray an tan slips from now on.
I think the older I get the easier I like thing to be, and keeping the furniture color the same is much easier. I’ve been working on some new pillows to add to the sofa and chairs for a little bit of an early spring look. I happened to get a good deal on fabric from Country Curtains so I’m using that to make the pillow covers.
I hate to say this but it’s finally hit me, and I’m over winter. Lower Michigan never has the sun during the winter months, and when we do rarely see it we’re in shock. I’ve only had to pull out my sunglasses twice so far this winter. It makes for a long season when all you see is dormant trees, snow, and dreary days.
I’ve always loved Michigan winters but as hubby and I age and no longer do all the winter sports we’re looking for a new adventure for next winter. I do believe we’ve decided to spend time in Florida next year. We’ll try it for for a season and see how we like being away from home.
We’d have to leave our dog behind (with my son) and she’d be heart broken. If I just go away for a day she sits and stares out the window all day waiting for my return. I’m assuming she’d eventually get over that and become accustom to me being gone.
If you missed the dining room done in Navy and Rust you can see that here! and you can see how to plan a room before you move the furniture using this easy and free site.
Hi Dawn! I just stumbled across your blog and I am absolutely in LOVE with your cabin. My husband and I dream of living in a cabin one day! I am new to blogging and would love it if you have a moment to check mine out. ๐ I will definitely be coming back to yours to see the latest on your beautiful home!
Chasity, Aw thank you so much for stopping by. Yes a cabin was our dream home too but it’s also a lot of work. Popping over to your place now ๐
The room looks very nice, Dawn. I grew up on the west side of the state, but now live on the east side – we get less snow and more sun, which I love, but even after 28 years, I still miss living on the west side. Florida winters sound wonderful to me, too!
Jen we just don’t get the snow like we used to so all the winter sports we used to do aren’t happening anymore. It’s time to make a change I guess, but sad to leave our dog behind.
Hi Dawn, I’m looking forward to see what fabrics you used for your pillows from Country Curtains. I think being home, your Shepard is used to having you around, it’ll be hard on her, I understand that.
Low 80s the next few days, then cooler days with some rain, Kathleen in Az
Kathleen, You’re killing me with those temps. We’re finally getting sunshine here again. 3 days of sunglasses so far this winter, lol.
Looks great Dawn!! I love changing the look of a room with pillows… the hubby says I have way too many… lol
I’m sure you will enjoy Florida…we go for two weeks each winter… it will be sad to leave your dog behind, I know our cat doesn’t like it when we go
Chery I have a pillow addiction i think. Yes my hubby says I have to many and that their useless. What do men know?
Fabulous cabin. Your home looks so warm and inviting. Happy Holidays
Thank you Ivory. Merry Christmas ๐
