Finally I’m back to show you what I decided to do on the front porch. Remember I was pondering over what fabric to recover everything with? Well, I really hate having to make new slips every year just to have the sun fade them so here’s what I did.
I used drop cloths for all the wicker funtiture. Love using them, you can wash them over and over, bleach them and they never fade from the sun. It’s a perfect fabric choice for me. The only piece I recovered in a color was the swing (which makes into a full size bed by the way).
I purchased 2 shower curtains, the material kind not the plastic kind, in two different colors and made an easy slip. I pulled two of the colors from the pillows when picking the shower curtains, one for the front and one for the back so now the cushion is reversible. I’ve done this before and the shower curtains don’t seem to fade either, maybe it’s the polyester in them that holds it’s color better.
I already had the drop clothes so it took only one trip to town for shower curtains. I spent 1 hour sewing everything, I think that was pretty good and I got a whole new look.
I took the pictures, just the way our porch always looks, even the big ugly grill on the porch. But I love food on the grill so it will have to stay. It has a charcoal side and a propane side, I’ve never used the propane side I like how things taste so much better cooked with charcoal, and I don’t notice it taking any longer.
Next on our list of things to do is enclose the ceiling on both porches. I already know what we will be using, so stay tuned for that……
Thanks for dropping by the cabin today and have a wonderful Sunday.
