Open Farmhouse Shelves
I’m so excited to share with you today a little project I’ve been mulling over in my mind for quite some time that’s finally came to be. I’ve added simple open farmhouse shelves to the corner space in the dining room.
I asked hubby when we moved in to make me a corner hutch, but you know how that goes? Sometime things get put on the back burner and never actually happen. Well I wasn’t about to wait any longer so I took matters into my own hands and came up with my own plan.
Granted it’s not a corner hutch by any means, but I like it just the same and the best part is when I get tired of it it’s easily removable. If it had been a big piece of furniture I’d have been stuck with it, or at least felt like I would’ve.
I picked up 10 – 99 cent shelve brackets, (spray painted them with ORB) and used pine boards we already had, gave them a coat of white chalk paint and started putting it all together. I used my Valentine gift from a few years ago to cut the boards to size. I was quite proud of myself, I even got out the level and made sure everything was perfect. I’m normally the stand back and eye ball it type of person, but not this time.
If you follow me on INSTAGRAM you’ve been able to see the progress and the shelves getting styled (which is the funnest part). I really wish I’d tackled the project much sooner, it takes up that awkward space and gives me another spot to decorate.
I’ve been on a building mission so come back and see the other projects I’ve been making. Once I got that miter saw out there was no stopping me.

Dawn, it looks great. I love things that are practical and beautiful too. You have extra storage and a place to display some pretty things too. Love the two old dish pans too.
Good job! I prefer it to a cabinet or other piece of furniture. And am so happy you left a tall space for your cow picture. Those gentle creatures are so photogenic and look wonderful in a rustic home.
love it and that sign.
I love it, Dawn! Every bit of it is perfectly done. I can’t wait to see what else you’re up to. ๐
Good for you Designer Dawn! Yes, waiting and waiting, been there. How fun to change it out seasonally too!

Love it! And I’m still of the opinion that your stained plank walls look amazing. My husband is in the tree service business and my father in law has a sawmill, so I’m seriously contemplating asking for wood planks to cover my drywall in the future… you’re house is such an inspiration. ๐
Love this Dawn. How are you??? Hope all is going good for you. Love that cow pic. So fun and sweet.
Hugs,
Kris
Dawn….wow, the shelves look great and I love the accessories you put on your new shelves~~
I love the shelves. You could still add a cart, plant stand or bench under them for added dรฉcor options. Your styling is so beautiful and serene, love it. I also love that there is always a pic of your fur baby in the mix as well. Its like playing where’s Waldo?!
Amanda, I’m hoping to add the fruit trees underneath it for winter. Thanks for all the kind comment ๐
I like it a lot. You are one talented girl!!!
What a great solution to a substitute for a corner cabinet….actually I like this so much better! Love the way you styled the shelves…so perfect for summer! Great job!!
Shirley I think I’ll have more fun decorating shelves rather than a cabinet anyway.
I love it all. Nice design.
Dawn, your shelves have so much character and charm. Job well done ! Your home is so cozy .
