Plantation Homes of Franklin Tennessee
While in Franklin Tennessee hubby and I had the opportunity to visit four Plantation Homes.
These homes were affected by the Civil War.
You see Franklin Tennessee experienced one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War fought right here on the soil of these beautiful homes.
These home were turned into hospitals and housed many wounded and dying soldiers from both the North and the South.
Here is the graveyard on the Plantations property.
There are only soldiers buried on this 2 acre plot.
It is quite an experience seeing inside these homes and hearing of the lives these people lived. If you ever have a chance, visit this area of our Country, you will get quite a history lesson.
Well, you got to see things I have not had a chance to. When we visit our son and family we just spend time at the house with the grands and don’t get to do much else. Going to have to find time to do more sightseeing.
Those are fabulous homes and such great history to see.
Oh that second one with the wonderful stairs to second floor entry is just stunning. My husband and I love to walk through old cemeteries. We are funny like that but really it is so interesting the read all the old headstones. We are total history buffs.
Oh I had to come over and see your Tn. Plantation Homes…. We LOVE Tn. and have traveled there a few times and FALL in more in Love every time… Beautiful pictures… 🙂 Just signed up with Linky to follow…
So cool! Wasn’t the Widow of the South based in Franklin? Loved that book and love seeing these pics to make it more real.
What beautiful homes! I love to drive around and look at houses; these are spectacular and what great history that goes with them! It looks like you and hubby had a great time, I love all your other pictures too. It would have been hard for me not to come home with a load of goodies!

Thanks for sharing the Plantation Homes, such great history to hear about!
I’ve always wanted to see that part of the country. The photos you took are beautiful.
Thanks for visiting my latest post. Those dishtowels & the rooster dish were all from Sur La Table. It’s a kitchen accessories store. Do you have them in your area? The rooster & hen transfers are so vivid, I just love ’em!

Okay, the second one with the stairs has me swooning. Did you get to go inside? Thanks for sharing. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
