Planting Time for the Strawberries
The Strawberry Plants arrived this week, so it was time to get them into the ground.The package said 25 roots, (which looked dead to me).
Sure enough 25, I laid them out and counted to make sure.
The planting instructions say to space them 12″ apart in a triangle formation.
So that is exactly what I did.
I have never planted Strawberries from bare root stock before I have always used live (very green) plants. I will give it a try and see how they fare. You can just see the small little crown protruding from the earth. Anyone used bare root stock and had success? Please tell me, I will have yummy strawberries in June…
Oh strawberries! I am interested to see how yours grow. I really want to grow some myself, that is if I can find plants/roots to use. Did you order the roots through the mail?
I’ve only purchased them green, too. You’ll have to be my guinea pig…I hope you have plenty of June berries. Patty

It will be interesting to see how they do. I have never even seen bare root strawberries for sale before. You can be our spot checker for these babies. xo Diana
You may not get berries the first or even second year, don’t be discouraged, they are like fruit trees, they take a few years to bear fruit. But if you take care fo them, they’ll come back on their own next year and the year after that etc
No I have not ever planted them bare root before. I can’t wait to see how yours develop!!

I don’t have a green thumb so everything I eat is store bought. Excited to see how these do for you though 🙂

The trees are all beautiful, Dawn! We don’t have any blooming trees in our yard, but an Orchid Tree is on my wish list. They look similar to the Tulip Tree. Well, actually we do have some small blooming citrus trees right now — a Meyer Lemon, a Clementine, & a Kumquat. We’ve also got our garden in & it’s doing very well. We have 4 different tomatoes, all with baby tomatoes already; several different squashes with blooms & babies, & peppers. The Man is doing all this — he’s turned into a “Gentlemen Farmer”…..lol! Love it!
