SIMPLE RUSTIC 4TH OF JULY PORCH DECORATING USING A FEW THROW PILLOWS, THE AMERICAN FLAG, AND FLOWERS!

Rustic 4th of July Porch, Red White and Blue, Log Cabin, Patriotic Decor, Simple Farmhouse Decorating

I’m all about keeping it simple but did want to add a little 4th of July decor to the front porch, so I went digging around in decor totes to find anything in red, white, and blue. I’ve downsized so much of my stuff that I had a hard time finding things (and I wasn’t going to go out and buy more) so I decided upon American flags and blue and white ticking pillows.

Somehow when I cleaned out my pillow stash I kept the blue ticking pillows. I’m not sure why, but I’m glad I did they turned out to be the perfect fit for look I was going for. You can’t see our home from the road so the only people that see my outside decor is the Fedex or UPS man and I have to confess they’re here daily. (Why go out to shop when I can buy from home?)

Rustic 4th of July Porch, Red White and Blue, Log Cabin, Patriotic Decor, Simple Farmhouse DecoratingThe front porch gets a lot of sitting time during the summer months. It’s one of my favorite rooms to use every evening. You’ll find me either reading out there or just sitting enjoying the wildlife. We always have deer, hummingbirds, and baby bunnies roaming around the property and it delights me to watch them play.

Simple farmhouse decorating for the 4ht of July, I've added American Flags to my ferns and placed them in galvanized olive bucketsMy parents spent a month with us visiting and every night after dinner we’d all head out onto the front porch and chat. I think the days of front porch sitting seem to be over, people just don’t seem to have the time to spend doing things like that anymore. I feel like cell phones have taken over much of their time instead of actually communication with family and friend face to face.

Rustic 4th of July Porch, Red White and Blue, Log Cabin, Patriotic Decor, Simple Farmhouse DecoratingDid you happen to notice my freshly cut lawn? After 10 years of limping the old lawn mower along I finally broke down and purchase a nice big zero turn mower. I’ve had the money saved for 3 years to purchase one but every year I look but decided to make my old one get by for another years. Well it finally died so I had to break down and purchase the lawnmower of my dreams.

Rustic 4th of July Porch, Red White and Blue, Log Cabin, Patriotic Decor, Simple Farmhouse DecoratingIt makes me angry to spend thousands of dollars on a lawn mower but it had to be done and I’m so happy with my purchase. I’ve cut the mowing time in half and I don’t have to deal with a lawn mower with quirks and features that no longer worked. I checked into having a lawn care service cut the yard but they quoted me $400 a week (I mow several acres). I about jumped out of my skin! no way was I going to pay that price to cut down weeds (country grass).

Decorating for the 4th of July by adding simple American flags to my outdoor flower plantersI am enjoying mowing again, I did’t feel that way the last two years. I guess having a machine that starts every time I get on it and has all the bells and whistles has made the job more enjoyable again. We’ve had so much rain that I’m having to mow every 5 days or so. I tried letting it go for 7 days and it was just too long and looked like a hay field that needed to be baled once I finished.

Rustic 4th of July Porch, Red White and Blue, Log Cabin, Patriotic Decor, Simple Farmhouse DecoratingRight after the 4th I’ll be hosting Grama Red’s 99th birthday party at our place. I’m excited to spend time with her and see how she feels about turning 99. So I’ll be back later to share with you how the party went and fill you in on a few special details about her that not many people know. She was famous back in the day and I have photos to prove it.

This is the first time I’ve seen your home with a front view – how beautiful and the flags are perfect. Now I’m wondering what a zero turn mower is. Happy Day!

I find mowing, especially on a nice rider, a good time to commune with the spirits of the Universe. No one is talking or interrupting, the phone can be left in the house, and there is an immediate sign of accomplishment as you ride away your stress. Your $$$ will be well spent.

Early happy birthday to your Grandma! Your property is exactly what we’re looking for, and when we find it, I’ll probably have to give up the push mower for a “serious ” one. Thanks for the 4th of July inspiration too!

It looks lovely and inviting. Love our zero turn. I love to mow. It’s a great way to get a tan! And you can shut out the world and think about stuff. Or not think at all. Mowing is an art form! If and when I ever let my husband have a turn on the mower I find myself critiquing his method! HAHA He’s learned it’s better just to let me do it!
