Rustic Valentine Deer

Rustic Wooden Deer Decorated For Valentine's DayDo you remember the Rustic Wooden Deer my hubby made me? I had so much fun decorating him for Christmas, that I decided he needed a Valentine look as well. I braved our frigid temperatures, below zero, and headed outside to dress the deer. I had a big fabric swatch, from an upcoming project, left over to use as a bow around his neck and 3 felt hearts added to a strand of twine to drape between his antlers. I left the bright red bird in place, it’s still giving it a pop of color that I enjoy seeing when we have snow on the ground.

Rustic Wooden Deer Decorated For Valentine's DayI’m just having a ball coming up with all kinds of ways to decorate my Rustic Deer. It’s like when I was a kid and could dress a doll up. The bad part about it is we live so far off the road that no one gets to enjoy all his different looks like I do. I’m sure my hubby and sons haven’t even noticed. Oh I take that back every now and agin the Fedex or Mailman come up the drive.

    1. Kathleen thank you so much for always taking the time to leave a sweet and kind comment. I always look forward to what you have to say.

  2. So cute, Dawn! I’m sure the deer causes the FedEx and UPS drivers to smile! Oh my gosh! It is really cold where you live. It was near 70 here today!

    1. Jane yes we get some pretty bad weather here in the north. I guess we just roll with it and don’t think much about it, but we did run to Florida for the weekend and enjoyed the high 70’s ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. He looks adorable in his new accessories. And I couldn’t help but chuckle about you wondering if the men in your life even notice the change. It took about a month for my husband to notice that I’d added a desk as a side table between two chairs in the living room – lol. I don’t know how you braved those below freezing temps…I only went as far as the deck to get more wood for the wood stove (I didn’t even get the mail – had hubby do it!! LOL)
P.S. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you, too, Dawn. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Jen, that has happened in my home too. Hubby asked one day about our furniture color, he said he thought it was navy blue and I told him it was about 2 years ago, this was new stuff. I can’t believe it took him two years to notice, LOL.

  4. Oh how cute!….I have a similar handcrafted wood deer I call Rudy…Never thought to use it all year round!…Love how you adorned it with garlands of hearts!…adorable!!!

    1. Shirley, you better get Rudy out and give him a makeover for the next season, lol.

  5. I am seeing a very cute leprechaun outfit in this deer’s future. (Hint hint)

    1. Amanda, LOL I’ll have to start looking for one of those ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I love this project, it’s gorgeous , and I have plans to make one to. Lovin it! Happy Holiday’s
