Rustic Winter Porch

HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE WINTERS PORCH USING RUSTIC TOUCHES FROM NATURE. IT’S A LOOK YOU CAN KEEP UP UNTIL SPRING THAW!

Do you do any outdoor decorating for winter or Christmas? This year I tried to give the side porch entrance more of a winter vibe rather than a Christmas look. My plan behind that is to get a little more mileage out of the dรฉcor.

When itโ€™s decorated for Christmas I feel like I need to get right out there and take everything down once December is over. If I decorate for winter I can leave things up until the end of February. Here in Michigan weโ€™ll still have snow on the ground come spring.

I was really bummed this year; the day I decided to get garland hung and the pinecones gathered into an old galvanized bucket, there was no snow. Insert sad face here! It seems like thereโ€™s snow everywhere in the mitten state except right where we live. How can that be? Hubby and son are anxious to get a little ride time on their snowmobiles but Mother Nature decided to play a little trick on them. So we waitโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

By the way today’s the day my friend Jennifer from Town & Country Living is hosting a blog hop where fellow bloggers and myself gather to share with you a little cozy inspiration that takes place the beginning of every month. To see what everyone else is doing make sure and click on the thumbnail links below.

For those of you who may have clicked over for the first time let me introduce myself. Iโ€™m Dawn a true country girl through and through, I live in a rustic log home built by my Hubby, Son, and myself with our own hands. We paid cash through the process giving us the freedom to be mortgage free. We bartered for skills we couldnโ€™t do during the build process and the rest we did ourselves.

Thereโ€™s much more to our story but that gives you an idea of what Iโ€™m all about! You can always click on the CABIN TOUR tab above to get a look around our home.

Our place is humble, cozy and certainly rustic as you can see by our porch. I like the entry to the cabin to be welcoming; it needs to flow with the environment around it, so keeping with things from nature tends to work more so than decorating with whatโ€™s trendy.

I never get tired of the warm felling I get when I spot our log home standing on the hill as I pull up our long and winding driveway, knowing we made our dream come true one log at a time!
