Talk Till Dawn – 12

I’m excited to share with you a new series I’m starting called, “Talk Till Dawn”, I want this to be about my everyday life, the things I’m reading, eating, my everyday ups and down, along with photos that I’ve taken over the week.

I haven’t decided yet how often this will be, right now I’m just going to get it going and see what comes of it. I encourage you to share with me similar situations and we can all support one another.

My life and home is far from perfect even though I always share with you pretty home decor picture. Now from time to time I’ll give you a look at how things can get out of control like everyone else’s life.

It’s that time of year where my mind is going thinking of all the things I need to clear out and reorganize for the new year and the first thing on my list is our PANTRY. Ugh, right now I can’t even stand to see the door open it’s such a mess in there. How in the world in one years time can a pantry get so disorganized? I know how I have more than just me in it. Some members of my family like to do the cram it in anywhere method so when I’m the only one being organized it just doesn’t work.

If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I took our Christmas tree down on Christmas Day. I know don’t Christmas Tree shame me, but where I had It this year really worried me. It was so close to a register, which is hard to avoid in our house, and I feared of how dry it was getting. I had to go back to work and I didn’t want to come home to a house burning so I chucked it outside on the porch and will throw it in the compost pile this week.

I’m always anxious to get things down after Christmas and get the cabin back in order. I feel like things can’t be cleaned and dusted properly with all that stuff sitting around looking pretty.

I also have on my to do list to paint our lower kitchen cabinets. I’ve been saying it for two years now and I just have to make it happen. I like to do it when everyone in the house if out of town, that way I can tear apart the kitchen for as long as I need but with me working now the timing just doesn’t seem to work out. Colorful Vintage Kitchen Accents | CreativeCainCabin.com

I’m going to tackle the dreaded task of sorting through all my Christmas ornaments and donate those that I haven’t used in a couple of years. Why on earth do I keep them in storage if I’m not going to use them? I’d rather free up the space and make things look tidier on my storage shelves. I do have everything in labeled totes but it’s still time for a good purge.

I don’t have to organize the pantry – it’s so small that we have to keep it organized. But, I do have to organize my closet. Steve said he wants to organize his too.

    1. Carol, I agree the take down is not as fun as the putting it up. I keep my side of our closet organized but hubby doesn’t follow along. He desperately needs to purge his things.

  8. No Christmas tree shaming from me LOL….I didn’t put one up! This is the 2nd year and I don’t miss all the work. When I was in my 20-30’s my mom quit putting one up which I thought was terrible but now I totally get it. I do love seeing others pretty trees.

    1. Carol, I totally get it too. With no little kids it seems like just a chore to decorate.
