Talk Till Dawn – 4
I’m excited to share with you a new series I’m starting called, “Talk Till Dawn”, I want this to be about my everyday life, the things I’m reading, eating, my everyday ups and down, along with photos that I’ve taken over the week.
I haven’t decided yet how often this will be, right now I’m just going to get it going and see what comes of it. I encourage you to share with me similar situations and we can all support one another.
My life and home is far from perfect even though I always share with you pretty home decor picture. Now from time to time I’ll give you a look at how things can get out of control like everyone else’s life.
Wow, lets see what’s been happening since we last chatted….Oh, I took a job a few months back but haven’t told you all about it yet. For those of you who many not have read in earlier post, back in the day I was a hair stylist and still do hair just don’t have any desire to do it in a salon any more. Iv’e been going to the same stylist for around 10 years, she’s the owner of the salon, and one day while I was I getting my hair done the place was so busy that I happened to throw out that if they ever needed help they could call me. I wasn’t interested in doing hair, but I could reception, do the laundry, keep color mesh clean and just help the stylists out. If I stayed on top of those tasks the stylists could keep working without having to do everything else.
I got the call one day that they were needing help, and I’ve been there ever since. I did have to learn their computer program but that didn’t take long and since I’ve been a stylist it made it much easier knowing the services and how long to book each thing for.
I’m no longer needed at home, my boys are grown and I was really needing something to keep me busy. I’m having such a blast at work, all the girls are young and beautiful (I still think I’m 29 by the way) so it’s always such a hoot working with them all. I wasn’t looking for a career at my age, I just wanted to get out of the house and have fun doing my job, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I forget I even get paid until someone mentions I have a month’s worth of pay check that haven’t been picked up yet.
If you happen to follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen this picture before of my homemade pretzels. I go in spurts of making things, and I was craving pretzels this month so it seems like I was making a fresh batch every other day for a while there. They’re super easy to make and so delicious. I took a batch into work for the girls along with a cheese dipping sauce and they were a hit.
If you’d like the recipe I follow you can find it here, and you won’t be disappointed. Do you ever get on a food kick, where you crave the same thing for days, and then suddenly you’re over it? It happens to me all the time, right now I’m craving carbs all the time and for me that’s strange I normally crave chocolate, anything chocolate.
I haven’t shared anything with you about Grama Red lately so I thought I’d show you a picture from dinner not to long ago. She’ll be 99 in July this year and she hinted that she might like a big blow out for her birthday this year, she said she’s slowing down and if she waits to hit 100 she’d only be slower. I got a good laugh out of that!
She’s only working out at the gym twice a week now, it used to be three times. I guess at her age things are bound to slow down, she said her body just doesn’t move as fast as it use too. But let me tell you there’s nothing wrong with her appetite, she can out eat me any day of the week.
That’s my Dad in the pic with us by the way. I believe Grama Red has lived so long because she always has family with her, so many elderly people have no one in their lives to keep them young, but that’s not her case someone is always with her and keeping her active.
This is a terrible pic with my iPhone, out my dirty windshield, while it’s raining kind of photo of the male and female pheasant we have living on our property. Every morning they’re together somewhere in our yard picking seeds and things out of the grass. The male pheasant is so big right now he’s the size of a turkey and his tail feather is over 2 feet long.
I pray every day that the coyotes don’t find them and make a snack out of them. I’m excited to see the baby pheasants running around the yard soon. Pheasants were almost extinct in our area for many years because of the coyote population but slowly their making their way back.
I googled what type of food they like, I’d planned on hitting the co-op and pick them up a bag of seed but after I thought about it I was afraid it would attract to many raccoons and I didn’t need those little buggers hanging around tearing things up so I decided against the seed. My son informed me, just because they’re on our land doesn’t mean I have to feed them. I guess it’s just the mom in me trying to care for them.
I’m crushing on this necklace, so if anyone see’s it for sale anywhere will you please let me know. I just have to have it…..well not really but I want it. I’m so into the boho style right now and this necklace will be perfect to add to my collection. That’s another good thing about working again, I can dress up and put together so many cute outfits and I so enjoy that.
Until next time take care and thank you for spending the time talking till dawn with me today!
I’m So into Talk Til Dawn. . . thanks for creating it . . . Your hair do is smashing and I Would Love to know where to shop the boho necklace. Boho is my thing!
Jan, if I ever find the necklace source I’ll pass it on to you, I’m crushing on it too.
Hi! It sounds like you are having fun…I’m super happy for you. I enjoyed hearing about what’s going on in your life. Question about that necklace…is that all one piece or is it several necklaces worn at the same time? Clearly I’m clueless but it’s very cute!
Ann, I believe it is a one piece necklace but not exactly sure. Thank you for taking the time to stop in today 🙂
Your Grama Red is so beautiful and glad you have her in your life!
Laura thank you so much for the kind words.
wow..I just loved your blog today. I love your hair!! Your family are all so young looking…..I bet you are loving your new job and being out and about. Thanks so much for sharing and isn’t this weather today in Michigan crazy…..
Jeanie, I can’t believe the strange weather we are having. I’m looking forward to doing a little gardening but it doesn’t look like I should get my hopes up yet.
Great post ! Hope your beautiful pheasant survive !!
Cindy me too I haven’t seen them lately but the weather has been horrible hopefully they’re just keeping cozy!
How nice to be able to work and enjoy it–not many like their jobs these days. Love your hair and gramma Reds also! She sounds like such a hoot to be around! The necklace is gorgeous so I’ll keep my eyes open for it, too. Hope Spring gets to Ohio soon!
Dawn, I enjoyed this post! What a fun idea for sharing and getting to know more about people.
First I have to say that I love your hair blonde! And yes you need that necklace. You can totally rock that.
I bet you love having a job. My boys are 26 and 28…a little part-time job would be fun for me too but I’d like to set the schedule. Do you think I could do that. 🙂
Stacey for sure you could find a job and set your own schedule. I work 8 hours a week, all in one day but am on call and can take any additional hours or turn them down if I’m busy. It’s the perfect job and just enough money for me to help out a good friend in need.
