Looking for suggestions.
Hubby and I are going to head to Tennessee for the weekend for a little get away.
We are looking for some great local things to do.  No touristy things, just some local down home good culture.  Maybe a flea market, and some great scenery.
We were married in Gatlinburg and have been there several times so we are looking for another location in Tennessee.

If anyone has any ideas will you please pass them along.

Thanks for your help!!

Dawn, my favorite place is Franklin and many others will tell you that, too. Small town with down home charm and lots of shops and antique malls. I could spend days there. We get to visit when we go to our son’s in Nashville.

I have no clue where you should go, but I insist you find the best flea markets in the state so you can bring home some treasures to show us!

Dawn, I am a native Williamson County TN girl…all of my so-far 42 years…and I live just south of Franklin. Franklin is PURE BLISS, I agree with Kim. The Historic district downtown Franklin is beautiful….full of antique shops, boutiques, etc. If you go, be sure to visit the antique area where the “ice house” is located, near 2nd Ave. Also have a meal at Puckett’s Grocery, just off Main St. If you dine there at night they have some great live music. Look up Puckett’s online and also look up the Historic Franklin Theatre. It has just been restored to incredible beauty and lots of great shows/events going on there. If you take a scenic drive east down hwy 96/Murfreesboro rd, you will come to my wonderful part of the world, Arrington/Triune. There you can go to Arrington Vineyards…..BEAUTIFUL place even if you don’t care for wine….Kix Brooks of Brookes & Dunn owns it. You can take a picnic there and if the weather keeps up like it is right now, it will be warm enough, no joke! ha ha
Please feel free to email me about suggestions, I’d love to help out! I’ll keep thinking of local things to do 🙂 Have a GREAT trip to our beautiful part of the world!!!!!

I live very close to Chattanooga. I will say, if you like the outdoors~hiking, walking, etc…, then this is the place to go as it is a beautiful town. Otherwise, not that many great unusual places to eat or that many cute shops. If you are interested in the outdoors part of it, if you will let me know, I can direct you.

I have never been to Franklin, but I too, have heard it is just great. I have been to Jack Daniel’s distillery in Lynchburg, and that is a neat tour to take. (free)

We always go to the Smokeys to get away. Even there though, we usually do the outdoorsy type things. There are a lot of great places to eat and we love to walk the town at night. I have heard that downtown Maryville is really nice now. We ride our motorcycle all over East Tn, and the mountains of N. GA and honestly, that is the best way to see it all~just gorgeous! ~Jan
