US12 Garage Sale Find – Vintage Quilt #2
Back to the garage sale treasures….
Here is the second quilt I found on our US12 Garage Sale trip.
This one is done in all red and cream fabric. Some of the red is still very vibrant and other parts are worn till almost pink.
The quilt is so fragile, I’m not sure if I even dare have it dry cleaned. But I will take it in and let them make the decision.
This one was machine quilted so I’m not sure how old it is, but is must have been someones favorite by how thread barren it is.
For now the quilt is draped over my staircase rail into the loft.
Stop back by next week and see the vintage tablecloths I found on the trip.
It is beautiful. I might would try washing it on gentle with OxyClean powder, soap, and then air dry it. That is how I clean all my found quilts.
Another great one. That sounds like a lovely spot to display quilts. We have a small upstairs rail section of about 3 feet and I like to fold a quilt there. I dream of having a large rail overlooking a main one day.
That is another beauty, Dawn. I would love to find a red and white one. Found a beauty a couple of years ago up in the North Ga. mountains and had my husband slam on the breaks so I could look at it, but it was $400. Can’t do that.
Dawn
Another sweet quilt. I wonder what caused such color contrast on it.
I can’t wait to see your tablecloths!

Your new vintage quilts are fabulous, Dawn!
luv it
Love your darling blog! Bright & cheerful! Loved my visit! xo
wow those are both great finds, you are very lucky
Oh oh this is fabulous. I love the colors. I have been looking at vintage quilts for about a year but so far haven’t found one I like and can afford. I guess I need to hit more flea markets!!
Lovely quilt! I’m always a little bit afraid of the chemicals used in dry cleaning, especially on my quilts. You could try washing in an oversized front load washer. That would be easier on the fabric rather than agitation. If it is really fragile, soak it in the tub with a mild soap. Drain and rinse. Just squeeze the water out rather than twisting. The colors are already faded so go ahead and lay it out in the sun.
