Vintage Grain Scoop as Farmhouse Decor
Stop the Car!!!
It must have been my lucky day:)
There in the middle of the road was a “Grain Scoop”.
Now, I always make fun of my hubby when he stops along side the road
to inspect whatever it is in the ditch. It must have rubbed off on me
because I did the same thing.
I have no idea how I even spotted the thing, I was riding with
my parents to a neighboring town in the back seat of a min van.
You know one of those kind that have the shades that come down over
the back windows? (And they were down)
Well some how I spotted her.
I think it was mean to be.
Luckily I didn’t scare my step Dad to death when I
screamed
“Stop the Car”
He dutifully stopped, “I said back up” which he did, and then
I instructed my Mom to open her door and pick it up.
Wow, now that I tell it I sound kinda bossy.
Let’s just say I squealed with delight when she handed it back to me.
My step Dad got a good laugh, he didn’t see
why I thought it was such a treasure.
I couldn’t wait to get home to decide how I would decorate with it.
My lavender was in full bloom and I thought the
purple against the red handle would be a smashing pair.
I proudly displayed my Grain Scoop filled with Lavender
in the living room on an end table.
I think decorating with the unexpected is sometimes
better than if you had planned
it.
I agree. Love it.
Wow, Dawn, lucky you and I love the red handle on it. They sell those around here for quite a bit.
Oh I so agree. What a find…I love the combo of lavender and red gingham too. Score one for you!

It was serendipitous! Lucky you saw it. And you’re right. The color combo is smashing.

Silly as it might sound…What A scoop!
You never know what treasure you might find if you truly open your eyes…A bit like faith is it not?
Happy Sunday (I’ll be trying DIY soap sometime later this month!)
How neat! Love the purple with the red!

You saw that grain scoop because it was willing you to find it! It wanted you to bring it home, dress it up and make it into a star.
I’m laughing so hard because I’ve done this same thing so many times over the years! My kids know when I’ve spotted something, and usually my teenager starts saying, “No, Mom. NO!” haha.
Good eye, Dawn! What a find-it’s gorgeous : )
