SIMPLE WAY TO DECORATE IN WINTER TO MAKE A HOME FEEL COZY AND WARM!

How I decorate now that Christmas is over and spring is still quite a ways off. Every January I pull out the pinecones and deer antler to carry the cabin through the rest of winter but not this year.

When I packed everything away after Christmas I decided to keep only thrifted candle sticks, tapers, and my potted lemon and lime trees as décor. Hold on to your hat: I’m still using the same pillow selection I used all summer long. For me it’s a first so I’m thinking if I’m still using them I can probably purge the pillow stash once again.

Any who I picked up a few brass and pewter candlesticks at the thrift store, gave them a coat of matte black spray paint, added a mix of black and white candles and called it my winter look.

I get up early every day normally I’m up by 5 am and I enjoy having the glow of candles to do my Bible study by. It’s my alone time and my time to get my thoughts centered on God for the day. I know many people have a she shed that’s their own space or for guys it’s the man cave but for me it’s right here in the recliner with my Bible.

Having candles lit is very peaceful to me and since we have a very open floor plan it also lets everyone else sleep without having a lamp turned on. Once the house gets rolling I do turn on the lamps and blow out the candles but for at least one hour every morning it’s just my glowing candles and me.

So tell me what’s your go to items you use to decorate with once Christmas is over? I’d like some new ideas and I may even have those things in my stash.

The way you display the tv is beautifully done. It is a big part of our lives and not easy to “blend”. You have an elegant yet comfortable look. It would be a very nice place to start your early mornings with God.

Linda, I’m still no sure why we even have a TV in this room it’s never turned on. Hubby goes to his man cave to watch tv and I’d rather read.

Hello Dawn, I really like your coziness with the candles. Our log cabin is an open floor plan on the main floor. This year I put straight wood branches in old pails and put clear lights on them. I also bought some twig artificial trees on clearance after Christmas and have them scattered around my home. I threw in some pillows that have trees etc on them and brought out my stash of pinecones .
