Word Press or Blogger
I am seriously considering changing Creative Cain Cabin over to Word Press.
I have been blogging for just under a year and am afraid if I wait to long it will be harder to move all the posts successfully.
Does anyone have any advice?
- Have you successfully done it yourself or did you have to hire a designer?
- Is it as easy to use as Blogger?
- Does WP have gadgets similar to Blogger, and do they also make the move?
I really like the clean look of WP and why not go with what I think looks good!!
I don’t have Word Press, but Marion of Miss Mustard Seed did a post on the switch a few days ago if you want to read it. I have heard it is harder to use. I get so irritated with blogger sometimes that I have thought about it, too.
I considered switching to Word Press when Blogger started to charge for space. AND…they took another charge WITHOUT my knowledge last month, for more storage, and that really irks me!!! I say go for it. You can pave the way for the rest of us.
Here’s what I know for sure. 1.)Marian Parsons, Miss Mustard Seed, just had her entire, gigantic blog moved from blogger to WP and it went off without a hitch. Posts, comments, videos, the whole shebang. Her blog designer is Marina Simmons. :o) 2.) You can move your followers and the switch to a different URL can be done very smoothly with no interruption. 3.)It can be designed to look like a blogger blog…only better. 4.) I would never attempt something like this myself but if you do I’m sure we’d all love to hear about it. Good luck girl!
I’ve been on a self-hosted WordPress blog since I began. That’s because my 2 step-sons, who make their living doing computer stuff, told me that’s what I should do. So they set me up, and since I don’t want to bother them, I try to figure things out myself. There are some differences. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to get Blogger’s gravitars to show up on my WP blog. Only other WP bloggers’ gravitars are displayed. If you’re not a techie, you’ll probably have to pay someone to switch you. I do like having total control over everything, though.
Well I have started looking at the WordPress.com myself. Went ahead and started a blog there. It is of course not shared with anyone yet. (smile) I have been staring at it for about 3 days with nothing but the theme picked out. It is a lot more complicated. I went just to look at having the google friend connect on there, and to do it is a chore….(sigh) I then now about 10 min ago read that there is also a wordpress.ORG SO now I am confused on what the difference is. I am not going to get discouraged though. There are tons of people out there using it, so I am sure once I figure it out it will work out. I say just go over and sign up and play around and see what you think. If it gets to where you feel you need to hire someone, that is always available. But you might just figure it out yourself and then if I will be coming on here hoping to read all your tutorials (wink)

I found it…(smile) There are ton’s of tutorials. Here is one all about moving from any blog to wordpress…Good luck!
I did but then I got sick and could not really give it the time it takes. I keep meaning to go back since I’m paying for it.

I started a wordpress blog before I came to blogger. WordPress has its quirks and really I feel like Blogger is easier to use, but then I’m a bit technically challenged. I came to Blogger because it just seemed there were more creative people here that I can link with. I found the bloggers on wordpress to be more about writing than sharing creative stuff. Maybe its just me and I’ve not explored wordpress enough.
It’s really а nice and usefuⅼ pieϲе of info.
I’m happy that you simply shared this hеlpful infoгmation with
