Decorating Around a TV

Decorating Around a TV Using Rustic Farmhouse Pieces, to Create A Gallery Wall

Iโ€™ve been making quite a few changes around the cabin lately and decorating around the eyesore in the room, the boob tube was on my list. Iโ€™d been looking for old barn doors to use on either side of the tv, old shutters, or something similar to fill in the space. Ya know if you hold out long enough something will present itself and work out.

We have a friend whoโ€™s parents had passed recently and he was wanting to sell a few thing out of the house before everything went to auction and invited hubby and I down to have a look see and see if we wanted anything. Well my mind just doesnโ€™t work like a normal person and while he was showing hubby old crocks and antiques I was checking out the swinging saloon doors between the kitchen and dining room.

I stood back looking at the doors, even broke my tape measure out of my purse and sized them up then debated on asking if heโ€™d sell them. Once I realized they were the exact size I was looking for I broke down and asked if theyโ€™d possibly be for sale.

He said heck ya, my mom always hated those things but my dad went through a cowboy stage and just had to have them. He immediately took out a screwdriver and unhinged them from the doorframe, and handed them over. I was going to give them a coat of white wash paint before putting them up but I decided I liked them just the way they were.

They are a perfect compliment just they way they are. It never hurts to ask. For months your IG on your blog page does not connect. Have you taken it down? Just wondering.

What a cute story behind them. Figures they were something like that when I saw the pin on each one. So glad you found something that worked so well for you, they look awesome. Think you were so right not to paint them white, too much of difference with your gorgeous cabin walls. They are perfect on each side of tv with wreaths on hem.
    Happy daze

  8. All of it looks just beautiful – I like it even more than how it was decorated before. I like the way you clipped photos to your lampshade with clothespins, too. The whole space is looking so right.

Your living room looks cozy! Love the wreaths on the doors too. You’re right about waiting for the perfect fit surrounding the tv. I’m planning to buy new drapes for my living room and I love your drapes, checks or buffalo. Kathleen in Az
